Sam Kim12 said:Don't even bother looking at their stuff online—honestly, it’s a waste of time. In most cases, what you see on their site isn't actually what they carry in the physical store; the inventory is completely different. You're much better off just driving over and browsing the aisles in person.😉

Fair point. I just remembered that the items I saw online at "bits and pieces" looked nothing like the actual stock when I went in. Looks like a long drive ahead...😁

It's Super, if I could actually track one down.🙄

Jeffrey Castillo8 You might want to call a few local bakeries to see how many tiers you'll need for 280 guests. A friend of mine ordered a seven-tier cake for 120 people; she eventually realized four would have been plenty, though she didn't mind having extra to share.

Check it out... I'm looking at these kid-sized spray bottles Jeffrey Castillo8 was talking about... they just showed up out of nowhere.
Mine had a slightly rounded shape, but honestly, I don't think it'll be any trouble to make one that's a perfect square.

Hello... I am bringing my dream cake back to the forefront here—I believe I mentioned it at the very beginning of this thread, but I wanted to repost it so you wouldn't have to go hunting for it when I eventually ask: what do you all think this frosting is made of? It doesn't strike me as that stiff, traditional icing, but rather something much softer—perhaps something akin to whipped cream. If I were to make a "standard, classic" cake, this is exactly the kind of thing I would aim for...

I actually have a recipe tucked away somewhere for it. Inside, it’s just your standard, light fruit filling—essentially the same fruit you see on the outside, layered between the pastry and a bit of cream. 🙂 Everything is according to plan.

To be honest, I’ve never been much for those perfectly smooth, flawless looking ones. It almost feels like a shame to cut into them.

I’m a bit lost here..🙂 Did anyone happen to be in that small town in Ohio near Slatki Dar for sweets? I'm trying to figure out if it's just your typical local bakery or something else entirely. Does anyone know their hours? I was thinking about heading over there this Saturday to get everything sorted out, but I honestly have no clue if they'll even be open.

Honestly? Looks like someone just took a knife to a tub of margarine.
Sounds gross, I know, but that's the vibe. 😕

A friend of mine ordered pastries from them before, and I actually reached out to them myself (though I ended up going with Costco instead).
Just give them a call and let them know you're coming; someone will probably be waiting for you.
It isn't really your standard neighborhood bakery—they're more like a dedicated dessert production facility.
I think they stay open until 8 PM on Saturdays.
The lady I spoke with was seriously lovely........

To me, it looks more like frosting.
The whole cake is just super sweet.😍

Hahaha, 🤣 I thought the exact same thing 😁 but it isn't. To me, it also resembles some sort of whipped cream... though, perhaps the color shifted slightly because the image was scanned and shrunk down. In the actual book where the photo originated, it's quite large—you can clearly see that everything surrounding it is pure white.🙂

Regarding Sweet Gift, I don't really know much about them personally, though I have been to a few weddings where their desserts were served. Honestly, around Appalachia, you can find plenty of much better pastries than theirs—and don't even get me started on their cakes. The quality just doesn't match the price tag.

restlessmoose18, it appears to be a margarine-based frosting 😉—not pure margarine, mind you, but the cream itself is heavily infused with it... which tends to make things incredibly, almost overwhelmingly, sweet. Have you actually had a chance to taste that frosting yet? If I were in your shoes, I might suggest a gentle word to whoever is doing the baking, perhaps advising them to scale back on the sugar so the whole thing remains somewhat palatable... otherwise, the cake is just going to be an absolute sugar bomb. 🙂

Well, I haven't actually tried making it myself... but I really love the look of that cake—and honestly, as long as it ends up looking just like that on the outside, 🙂
I think it'll be a success.

Hey girls! I'm finally jumping in here too. I'll probably whip up my cake a day ahead of time since I’ve done this before for my sister and some buddies. Here’s a quick look at some cake shots from my computer that I use for inspo—hope you guys dig them as much as I do.

Hold on, hold on, northernstag5, you always seem to step away right when things get interesting. 😍 Come on, please, give us some more details—who specifically, where are they located, how much does it cost, and how do we find them? Since I'm based near Appalachia, I might actually head out and do some digging myself. 👍

I wasn't really planning on getting the cake from them anyway—we have this amazing local bakery nearby (let's hope Boone doesn't mess this up for my big day 😬)

If I remember right, you're from Naperville—basically neighbors 🙂 Could you please DM me the info on that bakery?😘 😘
