Lake, I have no clue where you were looking for cake, but I’m probably just going to grab mine from that little spot across from the old chapel—it's more of a boutique bakery than a full-on pastry shop, if that makes sense. Just ask around there. For 120 people, my cake is looking like it'll run me about $333.

My cake design has changed yet again. It’s still the same Vincennes recipe, just different. Instead of round, it’ll be square. Instead of three layers, it’s four. The flavors remain identical, and instead of that heavy decoration with white and burgundy roses... I don't know. I honestly couldn't deal with the headache anymore. Listening to everyone else's opinions—"use fondant," "don't use fondant," "is this enough for this many people?"—it was too much. So, whatever happens, happens.

I’ve got some cookies arriving any minute now for a little taste test 🙂 A dear friend of my mom's—honestly, I think I just phrased that perfectly 😬—found this local baker and asked her to whip up a bunch of different treats for us to try out 😍

Justin Nguyen6 said:Yeah, that’s what the bakery told me too. They don't really do the super creamy stuff because it's too risky to transport. Around the Midwest, I haven't heard anyone mention buying dessert by the pound, but every time I call a shop to check prices, they all talk about trays of bars or those little finger cookies you buy by weight. It's driving me a bit crazy trying to figure it out. I'll check back with the bakery to see how many of those dry treats I should get alongside the bars. I definitely want to have some leftovers to pack up for people, especially since a lot of guests are traveling from out of town...

As for the bite-sized cookies, our family baker usually prepares about 20 to 25 individual pieces per person, which ensures we have plenty left over to pass around later. She doesn't deal in weight, which honestly works better for me since I haven't the slightest clue how many cookies actually make up a single pound. 😬

Honestly, I don't see how that math is hard if you actually own a scale...🤣
If you're going by person, it's 200 grams or 0.20kg... real genius level stuff there. It’s way more annoying than just counting the individual cookies...🤣
But hey, whatever works for you. Everyone’s got their own way of doing things, and that's what matters...😘

I have finally placed my order for the cookies, and we are talking a massive 30kg! I decided to switch bakers because the previous lady was just a bit too expensive ($30/kg), but through a friend, I managed to find someone who bakes everything from scratch at home. Her treats are absolutely stunning—half dry and crispy, half creamy—all for just $22/kg. She’ll be making three different types of cakes for me (one walnut chocolate, one strawberry, and a Black Forest style). That brings the total to $787!
I also went ahead and ordered the wedding cake for 120 guests (it's a three-tier design using fondant, with flavors like parfait, chocolate, vanilla, and hazelnut) which comes to $250! They’re handling the delivery themselves, too. I am honestly so relieved to have that checked off my list!
My mother-in-law is also planning to bake two more cakes, so I think we will end up with plenty of food to satisfy all 120 people...

Man, everyone is going to be in a sugar coma at your place! 😬
Like a fairy tale 😛 It's fine, though; you'll probably have enough to feed 220 people! 👍

😂 😂 😂 Honestly, I'd rather have too much food in the hall, enough to take home for myself and him, and even some left over for the next day. The first woman I spoke to told me 18 kg would be more than enough, but I'm feeling a bit anxious about it, so now I've doubled that and then added a little extra just to be safe. It's better to have leftovers than to deal with people staring at empty plates, wondering if they can grab more... I don't want anyone to end up looking like Jack after that witch cursed him, unable to put on a single pound no matter how hard he tries...😬

Yo, that's awesome, Martin Luther King Jr.! Seriously though, how are their sweets? You actually tried them yet? Think they're good?

Don't even start with me—my mom once ordered about 200 pounds of them. 🤣 🤣

Don't go thinking I've gone MIA on you all (even though Magg gave me a little nudge to pop back in and say hi)... so, we were originally planning to order 100kg of sweets, but then the pastry chef herself told us 85kg was more than enough... and now she actually went and gifted me a cake for my birthday that looks just like the one we had at our wedding

Does anyone happen to know how many people actually showed up at your place?

I went ahead and ordered the exact same amount—100 pounds... I figured forty would cover us at both houses, and then another sixty should be plenty for the banquet hall area..

We ended up having 170 guests, dear... plus we were handing out little favor boxes for everyone to take home.😘

My wife insists that even this is going too far 😕 though, mind you, we aren't about to start splitting things for the house.

I don't see any need for us to divide anything up just yet... If anyone is truly interested, I’ll have about thirty boxes on hand, so someone could certainly set a few aside if they wish. As for my own plans, I intend to freeze a substantial portion immediately so that I might bring it in to treat everyone here at the office—they always have such an affinity for our traditional, homemade fare. And should there be any left over, well, then I shall simply have plenty to enjoy the following day as well.

My primary concern is simply ensuring there is enough for everyone in the room, and perhaps even a little left over for tomorrow!

I’ve got 80 people at this wedding who I want to hand out favors to as they leave, plus I still have to drop some off at about 30 different houses and a few other stops along the way. How many cupcakes should I be looking at, assuming everyone gets one plus a slice of cake? Also, fingers crossed someone actually shows up with some extra cakes as a gift.🤣 🤣 😁

It’ll be a breeze to get our treats shipped out from St. Louis 🙂

What’s the price difference, or what are we looking at per pound?

I honestly have no clue how things are going to shake out right now, so I guess it’ll just be a gift
