Does anyone happen to know how much a cake costs from that lady’s bakery in that suburban town near a major metropolis—I think it’s called Sweet Secret? I tried one of their cakes and it was honestly amazing, I'm just a little worried about the price tag since it looked so fancy

They sent me this around 11 AM:

Dear Customer,
our pastry prices per pound are $30.
We offer about 30 of our best homemade varieties, and you can pick whichever ones you prefer.
If you're interested, we can put together a sample box so you can judge for yourself.
For a dessert spread, people usually go for about 5-7 ounces per person, or you can just estimate by the pound per plate to figure out how many servings you'll need.
The price for a wedding cake designed for 200 guests is $833.
Generally, wedding cakes for 200 people start at $533.
You can choose the flavors and the exterior decoration however you like.
Delivery within Chicago and the surrounding areas is included in the price.

There's a contact email on their website, so maybe just shoot them an inquiry about the specific cake you want.

Oof, yeah, that’s definitely not cheap... and honestly, everything feels way more expensive now that prices have spiked everywhere. I guess I'll just have to bake the cake myself 😁

Hey ladies, I need some serious input! My partner and I finally pulled the trigger on getting a classic rectangular tattoo when we hit our 3rd anniversary (just the piece itself, no stem or anything), but now I’m totally stuck on the design side. How on earth am I supposed to decorate this thing? If anyone has any inspo pics or cool ideas floating around, please send them my way—it would be a total lifesaver. Thanks!🤷

After doing some digging and asking around, I think things are finally starting to make sense in my head...😵 It’s a bit of a tough call, so I’m planning to head out this Saturday to sample some treats. 🙂 But before I go, I was wondering if any of you could share your own experiences or maybe some intel regarding:

The local bakery downtown
The little cookie shop on the corner
The neighborhood pastry place
The old-school cookie stand

Price isn't really an issue for any of them, so my decision will ultimately come down to whoever has the best recommendation or whose stuff actually hits the spot once I taste it.
Thanks, ladies

Small batch cookie place—everything there is top-tier (I’ve probably asked this a hundred times already, so just search if you want). I used to grab them all the time and they never missed.
Tom and Ana supposedly kill it too... I haven't tried them myself, but I’ve heard nothing but good things from basically everyone I know. I can't speak to the first place, and I'm not sure about the Lido spot either. Is that like the Lido Diner?
Because the diner actually stocks M&M cookies...

I ended up going with Slatka Tajna for the cake. It turns out it isn't even that pricey, and I'm pretty sure it’s going to be gorgeous and delicious. 🙂 Now I'm starting to get a little anxious about the other desserts, too. At the local fair, I think there were maybe two bakeries from Kansas City that were selling $20 pounds of sweets—has anyone actually tried them? Honestly, I wasn't really in the mood for sampling anything that day...
I did stop by Gruber’s pastry shop once, and their stuff isn't bad, but I have no idea if they're any good for wedding orders.

Who does the Lido Diner source from? M&M? What exactly is that?

Lido carries them—well, they used to, but I’d bet they still do. They’re from that M&M bakery... their cakes and pastries are incredible, though they aren't exactly cheap. I think Little Lola had one of their cakes recently and was absolutely obsessed. Just curious though, why would you think Lido (the diner) makes cakes? Or were you thinking of a different Lido?

Dana Wright4, have you maybe seen what kind of boxes they're carrying over at Bond Pro?

Those little containers used for handing out cookies—someone mentioned earlier that people use them...

Honestly, I think this setup is super convenient. It looks way too good, though—it totally skips all those awkward "move over here" or "lean in closer" vibes.
Does anyone know if there are any shops around here that do stuff like this?

I mean, I’m pretty sure Vincek is the one behind this, but honestly, maybe a single cookie is around 10-$6.75 depending on how fancy the decorations are. I actually asked them about it, but at the end of the day, it feels a little pricey when you consider what a real cake costs.
