Oh yeah? And which group of people was actually celebrating and thinking they were being liberated by an occupation?
Only the fascists!

Look, if you want to liberate something, you have to occupy it first...
I guess we shouldn't call the Allies occupiers then.
The reality is that America was under occupation even before the Germans showed up.
Which group just can't wrap their heads around that?
The rebels!

Because you can't really consider an occupation as the founding of anything!

If the partisans were liberating something that someone else was defending, they call it liberation... while everyone else calls it an occupation.

arkan also "liberated" some town... or so he claimed.

What America?
Stepinac "spoke out against Pavelić" so loudly that he ended up working right alongside him—prompted by Pius XII—to try and preserve the so-called Third Reich regime even after the war ended!

And then the partisans throw him in prison...
It’s pretty pointless to argue about the evidence...

The crimes in the so-called Third Reich weren't just random; they were planned!

I won't say NO...
But I'm pretty sure they weren't "planned" on April 10th by every single official.

Pavelić didn't just "turn out" to be one; he was a criminal, primarily targeting his own people.

blah blah

Look, Pavelić was a criminal. Period. There isn't enough power in heaven or on earth to deny that.
Against Americans, Jews, Roma, Mexicans, and those Catholic priests killed in the camps...

Are you done now?

Well, you should have just joined in with Oranjeov's congratulations.
He congratulated you too!

He congratulated all the fascists and anyone who feels that way.
I don't feel that way.
And if I did, I'd say thanks...

PS: My holiday is in 7 days... that's when my birthday is.
Do you feel like someone who actually managed to explain something to me?

WeM said:it wasn't just blessed Stepinac pushing for an independent America...

Stepinac was backing the so-called Third Reich!

Quincy:
that was actually a pretty strong and legitimate option on the table for the American, British, and Russian allies...
Who exactly were the allies of the so-called Third Reich?
I guess that's why the "Big Three" decided at the Yalta Conference that no Nazi, fascist, or militarist puppet state would be allowed to exist after the war.
Just like they decided there would be an America afterward.

Is that what you're talking about?
Honestly, you’re just politically illiterate. What a joke.

WM said:The level of support for that option among Americans was actually quite significant, I suppose.

One might argue this point based on the fact that the armed forces of Nazi Germany remained just as numerous as the pro-American resistance forces until the very final days of the war, only surrendering seven days after the Wehrmacht did.

If you look at the records, the militia had roughly 30,000 people—that’s a gross number, including the wounded, the dead, and those taken prisoner—by 1945.
And most of them, I guess, received their judgment.
The rest were essentially just civilians and conscripts who were forced into service and used as human shields.
At that same time, the American component of the military wasn't any smaller than 200,000 people during those months.

Kerr said:in order to liberate something, you have to occupy it first...

So was it actually free before that (the occupation)?

I guess you wouldn't call your allies occupiers.
The truth is, America was occupied even before the Germans arrived.

And who exactly was America occupied by before the Germans showed up?

which group can't wrap their heads around that?
the nationalists!

No, the fascists!

if the resistance liberates something that someone else was defending, they call it liberation... while others call it an occupation.

So, the resistance liberates territory occupied by Germans, but the fascists see it as an occupation!?

Arkan also liberated that area... or so he claimed.

Dammit, Arkan! Kerr is just like you!

[and then the resistance throws him in jail...
it's pointless to argue about the evidence...

Everyone gets what they deserve, I suppose...

I won't say NO...
they certainly weren't all planned for April 10th by the whole fascist group.

What total nonsense!

look: he was a criminal, there's no debate... nothing in heaven or earth could change that.
against Americans, Jews, Roma, and those Catholic priests killed at the concentration camp...
are you trying to finish this now?

Sure, if you send me.... well, you know who.

he congratulated all the fascists and everyone who feels that way.
I don't feel that way.
and if I did, I'd probably say thanks...

Oh God, just say thank you!

Quincy:
ps. my big day is in 7 days... it's my birthday.
do you actually feel like someone who managed to make sense of anything to me?
Nah, I guess nobody has ever successfully explained anything to you, so why would I be any different?

Justice was largely served for them.
The remaining casualties were civilians and conscripts forced into service as human shields.
During those same months, the American military component exceeded 200,000 personnel.

I also noticed several factual errors and omissions within the provided link.

Does that matter? Or not?

WeM said:"The proclamation of the nation-state was met with optimism, even euphoria in certain circles. That excitement was fueled by the fact that this new state arrived without any loss of life , thanks to avoiding a war between America and the Axis powers."

from the moment of the Nazi Germany proclamation until its celebration 60 years later, it’s been a long road considering everything that regime actually did.

In that spirit: I have nothing but absolute contempt for Nazi Germany and everyone who celebrates it. 👍

Will Smith said:Look, it wasn't just some lone saint fighting for an independent nation...

It was a legitimate, heavy-hitting option sitting right there on the table for our American, British, and Russian allies back then...

If you want to know how much those allies actually backed that regime, just look at who they chose to fight against fascism.😉

Ugh...

Give me a break...

There is a process before any decision is made or explained, Phoenix. It involves discussions and actual thought...

That is what we call "having it on the table"!

Do you actually have the original Yalta declaration so we can see what was really said there?

We can move this to another thread... or another time! No problem!

I was just sitting here watching footage of folks in Chicago throwing flowers at those German 14th Armored Division tanks... honestly, I had to crack open a beer just to process it all. 🙂

graniteowl88 said:Look, people are acting like garbage regarding today's American independence... but honestly, that’s beside the point when you consider those who supported the Nazi Germany regime back in '41!

The reality is, there is no America today—there is only America!

Just saying!

Both the fascists and the paramilitaries always agree on one thing: today's America equals Nazi Germany.

Idiots...

Quincy:
So, were they actually free before the occupation?
Look, when a people feels truly free, it isn't some individual making the calls—it’s the nation itself...
As for why we were even part of the Kingdom in the first place... well, that's a whole other rabbit hole you probably need to dig into.
And then there was that January dictatorship (you know, that specific crackdown back then), after which Americans finally felt like they had some agency... but I guess I shouldn't even bother writing about that.

😕

Quincy:
And who exactly was the US occupied by before the Germans showed up?
It was the federal military, which historically had no business being here and no right to be there at all.
The way they lacked any loyalty to Americans speaks volumes—they basically just packed up and left without even trying to defend New York.

Quincy:
No, it was the Nazi Germany regime!
Nah, it was just guys with two machetes.

Quincy:
So, the partisans "liberate" territory occupied by the Germans, but the local regime considers it an occupation too!?
I mean, would they have to admit things were actually better after the "liberation" just because of some folk songs?

Quincy:
Dammit, Arkan! nimblelynx41 is just like you!
Screw you... those "liberators" were just more partisans.😁

Quincy:
Everyone gets what they deserve based on their merits...
That goes for the partisans too...
Of course, the partisans are the ones who get to decide who actually deserves credit.😁

Quincy:
I will, if you send me... well, you know who.
I don't know...
Quincy:
Oh God, just say thank you!
Man, it's easy to make a partisan start calling on God...
Quincy:
Nah, nobody’s ever managed to make anything clear to you, so why would I be any different?
you've got a point there.

besides, who actually *has* explained anything to you?

Actually, they would have supported Nazi Germany even more—provided Pavelić wasn't in charge—if the Americans in those political committees and the Democratic Party hadn't been so set on the opposition.

Hitler and Churchill both took American political opinions seriously.

Europe might have been a much better place if Churchill hadn't backed those communist insurgents on the continent, handing Poland over to Stalin and everyone else!

Wrong!

It is genetic!

For the sake of the late Ed Murtaugh and those old communists, today's America is Nazi Germany!

Even honest Royalists don't use that equals sign!

I suppose it says everything about which side those so-called Allies actually belonged to, considering how much they relied on fascist tactics in what people call the fight against fascism—though calling it an anti-fascist struggle might be a bit of a stretch...

If you ask me, those same players haven't changed their "anti-fascist" playbook one bit to this day; if anything, they've just doubled down on it.

That is far too international!

We should have celebrated the entry of those people into New York with a red star and one of their cavalrymen on horseback instead!

Honestly, we should probably just hold a celebration the day before the Mexican takeover of Chicago, complete with a red star and one of those traditional cavalrymen riding in on horseback!

Don't you worry one bit about the liberation of Chicago. 👍 👍
