I noticed you included an account number in the payment request, and since the recipient is listed as JP Morgan Chase, I’m assuming it’s yours... however, this specific account seems to be tied to Wells Fargo. You really ought to double-check whether that is actually your own routing info, just to make sure you didn't accidentally plug in the main corporate details from Wells Fargo instead.

Thanks. My account is all set.

Does it matter if I'm overdrawn by about $33? I don't think so, since my online banking doesn't show any notice that my account is frozen.

From what I can see, the recipient shows up as Wells Fargo, but then the account number starts with 236000032...
The thing is, the routing prefix for JP Morgan Chase isn't 2360000, it’s actually 2340009.
That 2360000 prefix belongs to Bank of America.
Honestly? That money is probably just sitting in some random temporary holding account at one of these banks, assuming the transfer even went through in the first place.

So, my girlfriend sent me some cash via mail last Friday, depositing it directly into my account at Chase. I was expecting to see it by now, but since it’s already Monday and there’s still nothing showing up on my end, I'm starting to wonder when it might actually hit. Any idea how long these things usually take?

Depends on the mail, but it’ll probably show up sometime today. It couldn't have happened any sooner, right?

I’ve got the account number and the person's name, but I'm honestly stuck on what to put in the rest of these fields. Their account is over at JP Morgan Chase.
I could really use some urgent help here if anyone can point me in the right direction.

Greetings, everyone. I find myself in a bit of a predicament regarding a transaction involving a contact who needed to transfer $50 to my account so I could mail him some items. We had a very clear agreement: I wouldn't drop anything in the mail until the funds actually cleared and showed up in my balance. He claims he already initiated the transfer of $50 and even sent me a screenshot as proof. Looking at the image, the account number matches mine perfectly, yet the money is still nowhere to be found. This was sent on Thursday evening via JP Morgan Chase online banking into my checking account over at Bank of America. I've attached the confirmation receipt he provided—does anyone know if there's an extra step where he needs to authorize this, or am I just dealing with some bureaucratic glitch at the bank?

Frankly, I don't see any reason to suspect he’s trying to pull a fast one on me. I was quite adamant about waiting for the funds to settle before shipping anything, and I made sure to tell him repeatedly that nothing would move until the money hit my account, simply so there wouldn't be any misunderstanding or accusations of me being dishonest.

All this means is he set up a draft, but it’s definitely NOT a confirmation that the payment actually went through!

Hey there—quick question, I guess—how long does it usually take for money sent via the finance system to actually hit someone's JP Morgan Chase account?

Depends on which bank the Federal Reserve is processing for, but it should clear pretty quickly during the day.

If you're using Wells Fargo, anything submitted by 3 PM gets cleared the same day—usually within about three hours tops.

Instant payments are finally hitting the scene: We're talking 10-second transactions.
The Federal Reserve just gave the green light to the Federal Reserve Payment System. It’s basically this new setup designed to make instant credit transfers happen almost immediately—so you can move money around in just a few seconds.

So, wait, is this gonna be tucked inside some specific app or what?

It’ll probably just get baked right into the existing mobile apps and online banking portals. You'll likely see an option for "express" or "priority" processing when you're setting up the transfer...
