Yeah, yeah, whatever... The real question is, would she actually end up behind bars because of one psychopath? (Because in America, maybe?)

No. If you take down an attacker in self-defense, you aren't a criminal. You don't go to prison.

Rape isn't just a physical act; it’s a sustained psychological assault.
The PTSD is absolutely devastating because the victim is left feeling completely isolated and alone.
And let's be clear: rape doesn't have to involve intercourse to be rape. It can happen in many different ways, but that doesn't change the reality of the crime. Rape is about violence, humiliation, a power trip, and stripping a person of their dignity—all tied to sex, even though it has nothing to do with actual intimacy.

In my book, the sentence for rape should be at least 20 years in a high-security prison.
As for the absolute worst kind—child rape—we shouldn't even be wasting time with trials. It should be immediate life without parole, or the death penalty.

Vanessa, this is such a fantastic topic and an incredibly important question.

As a feminist, I obviously condemn every single act of sexual violence (and honestly, all violence, period). But let’s be real: these modern American political correctness laws are just pure absurdity. We've reached a point where even consensual sex can be reinterpreted as rape a day later, leaving men vulnerable to lawsuits. I heard about this one university where they have rules requiring partners to ask permission for every single "step" in the act—like, "can I touch your leg now?" It’s ridiculous. Even the definition of sexual harassment has become so broad that it basically covers any behavior that makes someone feel slightly uncomfortable; the unspoken rule seems to be that we should all just shut up and stare at the floor. Or better yet, just stop communicating entirely. Because, let's face it, someone is always going to feel uneasy about *something*. Women shouldn't just lower their eyes when faced with rude comments or stares; they should fire back. But that requires education, critical thinking, and a sense of security that our society isn't quite ready to treat as a fundamental part of manners and upbringing yet.

Someone mentioned here that we finally need to start taking full responsibility for ourselves, our actions, and ultimately, embracing the risks and burdens that come with being human. These constant attempts to legally regulate sexuality actually drive people—especially women—away from realizing that we are the ones responsible for our own conduct. Real sexual education, critical thinking, and making firm, deliberate decisions are far more effective defenses against assault than any legal mandate. In my view, while obvious criminal cases are clearly prosecutable, these other "gray area" situations involving consent weigh heavily on the souls of the partners involved. And indirectly, they weigh on the souls of the families, societies, and cultures that failed to equip an individual to handle the inherent risks of human sexuality.

Why don't some women report rape?
If a woman tried to force herself on me, I’d probably put up less of a fight than if someone were just trying to get laid properly.
Two guys get into a brawl at a bar, beat the hell out of each other—maybe one even loses a finger in the process—and they end up getting lighter sentences than the guy who drugs his wife and commits a sexual act while she's unconscious. In court, that's what they call rape.

genNorec said:(I also feel like guys suffer way more from what I’d call "emotional coercion." It happens to them constantly, just humiliating and painful, and honestly, it doesn't even have to be about sex... but there's NO WAY they get any recognition for it... Women just seem to navigate emotions better by default...
But the impact is the same.)

I'm totally with you on this.
People say 'no' means 'no'—but then you've got this specific type of woman who turns every night out into some kind of self-promotion campaign. She shows up looking perfect, basically half-naked, making sure every guy in the room feels obligated to "check in" on her. She’ll sit in laps, touch people, "accidentally" let a tiny top or skirt slip, take drags from everyone's cigarettes, sip from their drinks, and drop these super suggestive comments left and right. She'll set up "private" coffee dates with everyone, maybe get a kiss on the cheek here or there because someone bought her a drink—you know, the whole "you're such a sweetheart" routine.
But the second one of those guys makes a real move? She acts totally outraged—like, "How could he even think that!???"
I actually had a friend like this once. And of course, she was always lecturing us girls on how we should "play the game"—telling us not to give in too fast, to make them suffer a bit, to make them chase us so they realize what they can't have...
Do men not have feelings either?!? Seriously, if I were a guy and some girl—especially some immature brat—treated me like that, I’d slap her so hard she’d never dream of treating anyone else like one of her brainless little dolls again.

And now, imagine if she runs into someone who's a bit more "sensitive," maybe unstable, aggressive, or just way too drunk—how do you think he’d react?
