Bravo, ladies. Truly.
I suppose we could just close the thread now, since you've clearly conquered the pandemic or whatever.🙏

That’s just my own take, I suppose. And since you apparently work at a school, you probably see it firsthand—people gathered out front, hugging and cheering... then they just pop a mask on once they step inside.
As for those of us in healthcare, the only way we catch COVID is from our coworkers. We actually end up passing it to patients, unfortunately.

No, I don't think it works quite the way you're describing it.
They’re kissing and hanging out everywhere, and they're constantly without masks. A lot of them aren't wearing them at all because their parents back them up, and we don't really have any way to "force" them to actually put them over their mouths.
There are plenty of other little details too, but I suspect you wouldn't be much interested in hearing them, given that you're just passing by a High School and think you know the deal.

At least they’re drawing conclusions based on things they actually witnessed—though whether those observations hold any water is another question entirely—rather than spinning some wild conspiracy theory about cooked books and hidden data while pretending they have some divine insight into what's happening across the whole country.

I should probably just add—you only get one funeral in your life, so whether someone shows up or not, it’s going to happen regardless.
Especially if it’s your own, I suppose.😁

I guess I'm just drawing my conclusions from what I see firsthand from inside the high school walls, so if looking at it from the sidewalk through a passing window is somehow more valid...
well, so be it.🐔

Well, I’m sorry if that's your experience. In my case, my daughter forgot her mask once and they wouldn't even let her into her middle school. She had to head all the way back home to grab it, which meant she was late—and obviously, she got marked absent. That’s just how the system works around here, I guess. My girl tells me that as far as she can tell, everyone in class is wearing them.

I mean, it’d be pretty messed up to deny the deceased their final send-off, I guess.😉

No offense meant, but education clearly isn't your calling. Handing children over to someone with your mindset would be a total disaster.
You might have better luck building a career in a prison camp in North Korea instead.
I can only hope that the Big Brother types who spend their days hunting people down on Facebook are keeping an eye on this forum, too.

High School. Long break. Is it 20 minutes? 15?🤔
Whatever.

Which students (if any) are actually wearing masks during their lunch break—since kids obviously need to eat—and who on earth is there to enforce it?

That's a rhetorical question.

If the school claims they "lack the disciplinary authority" to mandate that kids wear masks, then I suppose they also "lack the authority" to stop people from smoking during class time.

I can already see the principal and the faculty lounge refusing to deal with the mask issue altogether—half of them are probably convinced that everyone just overreacted over a common cold.

Yeah, true, some teachers don't even bother with masks.

My kids are still hanging out in their classrooms during breaks. Masks are being worn properly, and most of the teachers are sticking to face shields.

Elementary school. It's rare for anyone to eat at school; if they do, they just stay in the classroom. They might step out into the halls during breaks, but they have masks on. Teachers keep an eye on them while passing by the faculty lounge, though nobody is really patrolling the entire building. Like I mentioned before, if you don't have a mask, you aren't even getting through the front doors.

Of course there are.

All this nonsense about how "our hands are tied" is—well, it’s just pure nonsense.

But what happens if people wear masks during the day, then head out to a park to kiss and hug when they think nobody's looking?
How on earth are we supposed to prevent that?🍿

At my kid's school, they’re all just sitting in class eating during breaks. I’ve seen enough photos from the classroom lately to know that at least half of them aren't even wearing masks. I’m not saying they ditch them during lessons, but just because I can't walk into the building without one doesn't mean they aren't taking them off later on.

So, what? You actually think children should be forced to sit through class with masks on the whole time??? I don't know if you've lost your mind, but they're already banned from socializing with other grades during breaks—now you want them stuck in their seats with masks on too, unable to even stand up!!!😵

Honestly, whether they were wearing a mask in class or not is a completely moot point, because if even one single student tests positive, the entire class gets thrown into self-isolation anyway...

And what, precisely, is shocking you about this? I don't quite follow. Is it the idea that someone working an 8, 12, or even a 24-hour shift might actually need to eat or drink?
