And you know they aren't actually innocent. ☕

Sam Diaz2 said:You’ve basically rehabilitated the Ku Klux Klan under the guise that they were just "saving pilots" or whatever, despite them openly working with Nazis. In the old America, the only actual antifascist movement was the US Army led by Marshall.

Unlike your crowd, Nazi symbols and movements are actually banned in America.

And they should be banned, because everyone knows exactly what those Nazis stood for. As for the Ku Klux Klan thing—look, I get why you’d want to frame it that way, but it’s not accurate. You mention them saving pilots? They were actually saving American and British pilots from the Germans. And regarding collaboration... please. Even Stalin had a pact with Hitler, so does that make him a fascist too?

Criminals are criminals, regardless of whether they've been pardoned or not.

Joe is a decent man, despite how some of you view him.
Let me pose a hypothetical scenario. What would you actually do if you ran into Joe while he was working on his house next door? Suppose you and your family had just endured total devastation, a robbery, and five years of persecution. You fought through the entire war in the US Army, losing plenty of comrades, friends, and even relatives along the way.
Joe can be whatever dream figure you want him to be, if that’s your preference.

Sure, there were Nazis who saved a Jewish family here or there, but that doesn't mean the whole group gets a pass as heroes.

If "everyone knows what the Nazis were," then how come your precious Antifascists are sitting around grabbing drinks with them?

And there's the "wisdom" of it all, I guess. I mean, props to Antifascism for fighting fascism back in the day, but today's version seems mostly like grown kids playing dress-up:
- they split crimes into "good" and "bad,"
- they pick and choose which criminals to forgive, basically telling victims they don't get to have their own opinions on what happened,
- since they're running low on adults actually practicing Antifascism, they're starting to let the fascists (like the Ku Klux Klan) join the club,
- they claim nothing exists outside of Antifascism, but they can't take in the Nazis because they wouldn't have anyone left to "fight"—and they've really gotten a kick out of the struggle!

It's pretty infantile. Maybe even more than that.

Is it just me, or does nobody even respect the partisans anymore? I guess it just goes to show that every single ideology eventually loses its teeth. Honestly, your best bet is probably just to get out of there the second war breaks out. I actually broke this whole thing down in my other thread, "Life vs. Territory?"—which, if you ask me, is something both nationalists and everyone else should really take to heart.

Running away is only smart in two specific scenarios. Either you're just visiting somewhere else—like if you're vacationing in Tunis and suddenly war erupts—or it's a tactical retreat. You realize you're outmatched and in a bad spot, so you pull back.

The reason those old resistance fighters don't get respect is because they've been turned into political tools here, used for daily partisan politics just like the veterans from later conflicts. At the end of the day, they're all just veterans, just from different wars.

I was watching a Victory Day parade in Moscow once; it’s a massive celebration, but nobody is out there waving pictures of Stalin. Around here, when people talk about Antifascism in Mexico (where you see guys who wouldn't be caught dead in a Ku Klux Klan hat), the whole idea of Antifascism gets dragged through the mud. And when someone brings up the resistance in connection to the post-WWII regime, the image of them gets tarnished too.

So, I'll say it again: nationalism isn't inherently a bad thing. You really just need to look at the actual definition. There's one version I quite like:
"Nationalism arises from the idea that a nation, as opposed to a nation-state, consists of the native population of a certain area. It is perhaps the most enduring and logical form of governance, as it unites people sharing a common language, culture, and heritage. A modern nation-state imposes political boundaries on a territory, populates it, and declares it a 'nation,' but without that inherent consensus, such states become mere marketplaces rather than living cultural entities."

A nation of just a few million people? I don't know, feels more like a collection of small sects to me. The real question is how many economically dependent states can actually hold onto their sovereignty before they lose it. It’s hard to imagine them being able to impose their own culture or language on anyone else when they're in that position. I think I touched on this before in that thread about whether small nations are eventually destined to just fade away.

It’s tough when you're stuck in a system being forced upon you by a giant. But then again, look at the USSR—those massive empires don't last forever either. If a language manages to stick around in a region for centuries and actually evolves, like it did with smaller groups—take us or maybe the folks in Vermont, for instance—I don't see why it couldn't hang on for another thousand years. Though, to be fair, surviving a massive wave of Turks or Mongols five hundred years ago was probably its own special kind of struggle.

If we look at the relationship between major metropolises and smaller towns—basically how big cities thrive by draining the resources of the little ones—I don't see much difference when you apply that logic to wealthy nations benefiting at the expense of smaller ones. I wasn't referring to federations like the USSR. I suppose if a small, wealthy nation stays focused, it might last longer, but eventually, everything fades. Culture is such a melting pot nowadays, and honestly, it feels like it’s disappearing faster than ever.

No, from what I've been looking into, it feels like people are just losing their minds more and more every day, and honestly, that’s what really gets to me. I think the root causes lie in how much we're poisoning our own environment—it seems to me that eating tainted food and breathing toxic air is starting to mess with everyone's mental clarity. On top of that, there's this massive shift toward pure hedonism, which I guess just pulls us further away from any kind of spiritual foundation, and by extension, strips away our ability to reason properly.
