The movie plot is set in the 1950s within the glamorous fashion scene of post-war New York City. At its center are tailor Reynolds Woodcock (Daniel Day-Lewis) and his sister Cyril (Lesley Manville), who run a high-end fashion house dressing film stars, socialites, and various members of the upper class. Various women pass through Woodcock's life, offering this bachelor some companionship and inspiration, but everything shifts once he meets the young and beautiful Alma (Vicky Krieps)—a woman with a strong will who becomes his muse and, eventually, his love interest.

Honestly, I was pretty stoked to hear this is DDL's last role. Not gonna lie, I saw the movie about two weeks ago and it just didn't click for me—I’d already forgotten half the plot by the time the credits rolled. Knowing I won't be seeing him on screen anymore? That's just a bonus.

When is it hitting theaters here? I didn't see any trailers for it last week.

It’s just way too pretentious and honestly, God, it's boring. That piano music just makes the whole vibe even worse. Watching Alma was actually pretty uncomfortable... that dinner argument scene felt about as intense as some cheap Lifetime movie drama.

I actually liked the movie—aside from that dinner sequence. That part was genuinely unwatchable. It felt poorly directed, poorly written... just poorly executed.
Still, the rest of it held my attention; interesting enough, even if it feels distinctly old-school American.

It looks like Blitz doesn't have the rights to this one, so you won't see it at AMC Theatres. It’s supposed to show up at Regal Cinemas on March 8th, if I recall correctly—maybe that's the same day it hits Europa Cinema too.

Not to repeat myself from the other thread, but this is a 10/10 for me. I cannot wait for its release in AMC Theatres.

I don't know, this just isn't a movie meant for the big screen. Honestly, since Alma takes over everything in the second half anyway, you might as well just hit the fast-forward button during the first half.

I would rather sever my own arm than hit fast forward during this movie.

Some people might find the fashion segments tedious or excessive, but if it were up to me, I would've included even more.

I completely get where Alma was coming from; she just wanted that level of devotion and passion he had for his craft all for herself.
He totally won me over when he started complaining about how loudly she was eating.

She was actually an even bigger mess than him—just barging into Barbara Rosa's room and stripping her naked without a second thought.

God, the whole thing was just a disaster—the wedding, the old lady, the dress, everything.

And the actress (Alma) is fantastic; she spends the whole movie just staring him down with those eyes.

Absolutely.
Even while she's eating, the way she listens to everything he says—more than when he first asks her out—shows just how much she trusts him and loves him.

She was excellent throughout the entire film.

I love how, even during that first restaurant meeting where she seems innocent and naive (not just because of the age gap), she immediately shows her strength of character. He thinks he can breeze through without remembering his order, but she doesn't just remember everything—she reads him instantly and beats him to it by sending the message ☕🥳

Exactly. Like someone already pointed out, you sit down expecting a Daniel Day-Lewis film, but what you actually get is a Vicky Krieps film. 😍

Personally, I found it absolutely wonderful—it’s definitely unconventional, and I know it might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I truly relished every moment of watching it... though, honestly, I'm not quite sure how I would even begin to describe the experience or recount the plot to someone else.

I was honestly lost during 😬. When the tension started ramping up, I just looked at my mom and admitted I had no clue what was happening 😁. After doing a quick Google search, it finally clicked—it’s essentially a BDSM dynamic. She controls every single facet of her professional life so intensely that, in her private life, she actually craves leadership and surrender. That realization made everything fall into place 😬.

It’s a fascinating film—definitely one where you expect one thing and end up with something entirely different 👍.

Exactly, you go in anticipating a period drama about a tailor, but then suddenly...

Saw the title and honestly thought it was just another Star Wars sequel.🤦

Personally, I found it worked best because every single ad and review seemed to frame him as this dominant force 😁
