Blood dim said:The thread is locked because we've already answered the questions about why the site keeps crashing and whether search functionality is coming back a million times over.
You guys started venting about moderation all over the forum on a thread that has absolutely nothing to do with it. You don't do that in actual discussion threads, let alone in threads that aren't even about religion or moderation to begin with.

Oh, so it's perfectly fine to critique the staff over on PŽK? Sure, there’s a dedicated "Praise the Moderator" thread, but if someone starts complaining about how things are run (say, over on Politics), the PŽK thread gets shut down instantly with the excuse that "moderation talk isn't allowed here."

And regarding the search tool only working for banned users—is that supposed to be a 'bug' or a 'feature'? 😉
Or maybe you just didn't realize it actually works for them? Despite the million replies regarding the search function, I still can't tell if the fact that regular users can't search is some technical glitch or if it was intentionally broken for reasons I can't wrap my head around.

Honestly, I don't even have an answer for why the site keeps going down. Is it because the servers are ancient, they're running out of disk space, there's nobody left to maintain the hardware, or is it something else entirely?

Well, you can absolutely discuss moderation on the General Discussion board, provided you follow the standard community guidelines and the rules laid out in this PDF here.

Linda Young38 said:It’s true that there’s a specific thread for when you want to pohvaliti moderator, but if someone starts getting critical about how things are being run (like over in the Politics section, for example), the thread on General Discussion gets shut down immediately with the excuse that we aren't supposed to comment on moderation.

Look, if someone goes into the Politics section and starts criticizing the mods and ends up getting sanctioned, and then they try to jump over to General Discussion to complain about that penalty—yeah, that thread is going to get locked pretty fast! The rule about not discussing moderation within specific topical threads is very clearly stated and strictly enforced, so complaining about those penalties in the wrong place just doesn't hold any water.

I honestly don't even have an answer for why the forum keeps crashing.

Those are technical issues that fall under the IT department's umbrella; our job here is handling the actual forum posts and user entries. We'll tell you whatever we know and whatever we can, believe me! I know you guys want more details, and trust me, we want them too, but it's simply not within our jurisdiction, and most of the time, we don't have any more concrete info than you do. We aren't in the business of spreading rumors or making wild guesses.

I gave it a few good shots, but honestly? It just didn't pan out.

rustydrifter10 said:If someone decides to go on a tear attacking the mods over at Reddit and ends up getting sanctioned for it, then turns around and tries to file a formal complaint with the Democratic Party? Yeah, that topic is going to be shut down immediately. It’s pretty simple: we have a crystal clear rule against using discussion threads to vent about moderation, and we enforce it strictly. Trying to appeal a penalty based on those rules is just a waste of everyone's time—it's completely baseless.

Maybe I didn't frame things quite right, so we clearly had a bit of a misunderstanding. My intention wasn't to cause a scene on a specific sub-thread, but rather to speak up here on the Democratic Party forum itself. I was trying to point out that the Politics section is being moderated poorly—it’s incredibly biased, honestly—but as soon as I tried to flag it, they shut me down immediately.

rustydrifter10 said:Look, those technical glitches are for the engineers to sweat over. Our job here is strictly handling the forum registrations. We’ll give you as much info as we actually have on hand, but that's really where the line is drawn. I get it—you want more details, and honestly, we’re just as curious as you are, but this falls completely outside our jurisdiction. Most of the time, we don't have any more concrete facts than what you're already reading right here. And just so we're clear: we aren't in the business of spreading rumors or playing the guessing game.

Is there actually anyone on the technical team handling site issues lately, or did all the veterans bail without any new blood to take their place? I honestly can’t wrap my head around how fixing the search function is such a monumental task—it’s working fine for everyone else, yet somehow completely broken for those of us who have been banned. And don't even get me started on the Reddit app components. It shouldn't be this impossible to push an update so we can actually read the forum properly whether we're on a laptop, a tablet, or a phone. I assume there's enough ad revenue flowing in to cover the costs, so if the current tech crew is clearly out of their depth, maybe it's time to hire someone who actually knows what they're doing.
