Could someone recommend a solid monochrome laser MF printer for an office setting? It would be great if it could handle being networked for about $500

Look, if you're looking at MF laser printers, anything under $400 isn't going to cut it for a real office setup. Most of those are just cheap toys for people who don't know any better.

It’s not even a full-blown office setup—just something small for printing a few invoices and handling my fax needs—so does this look okay to you?

Are you actually curious about what kind of laser mechanism they used to build this MFP?

rustysurfer79, looks like you know your stuff—mind giving me a recommendation?
I don't really care about print speed, color accuracy, or network features; I just need something with a fax function where the toner isn't going to break the bank.

Speaking from experience, the most cost-effective fax machine you can find is a Canon PowerShot ELPH 100.

We had this one client back before the Great Recession—a debt settlement firm—who burned through something like 30 toners on a single PowerShot ELPH 100. Modern fax machines can only dream of that kind of durability. Plus, one toner for the PowerShot ELPH 100 actually holds three times as much powder as that new HP you're looking at.

So, hunt around for that Canon, and if you can't track one down, check the hot spot.

I have two computers networked together, and while both show the exact same printer icon under the devices section in the Control Panel, I can't actually print directly from one of them—it keeps forcing me to route everything through the other machine.
Does seeing the icon mean the driver is fully installed, or am I missing a step somewhere?
Can anyone walk me through a fix?
