So, what does the description on the right actually say it is?

I've got searchindexer running on my machine, but that definitely isn't the culprit.

It says Microsoft Windows search filter Host.

I haven't gone through that specific process myself, and I'm running Windows 5, so I'll wait for someone else to weigh in with their opinion.

Sorry if this was already asked, I don't have the time right now to dig through every single page.

Long story short—ever since I switched to Windows 7, I can't get the USB driver for my Dell PC to work. I installed the Samsung PC studio software, but the USB reader just won't recognize anything. It's useless. 😢

Does anyone actually have a fix for this? Help me out!

Thanks!!

While Samsung PC Studio runs on Windows 7, I find its performance rather underwhelming and rarely bother using it... You should really install MOBILedit instead! It offers a comprehensive solution compatible with just about any mobile device you might own.

I can't find any drivers for my husband's Samsung phone this week, and I can't even get it to pair via Bluetooth. It’s just typical of how Samsung handles things—they provide zero support, yet everyone acts like they're the gold standard. Personally, I can connect my Sony device however I damn well please. 😛

Hey,

I have a question. I just installed Windows 7 and I'm using an Intel hybrid TV tuner card. The OS recognizes the hardware just fine, but the software—specifically the PowerCinema 5 that came with it—isn't working. It probably doesn't support Windows 7. I tried installing PowerCinema 5, which should be compatible with Windows 7, but it either won't run or I can't figure out the settings.
Is there any other software I can use to watch TV?

Thanks in advance.

vividdriver2 said:Hey there,

I have a quick question regarding my setup. I just finished installing Windows 7, and while the system recognizes my Intel hybrid TV tuner card as hardware, the included software, PowerCinema 5, isn't playing nice at all—it seems like they might not actually support Windows 7... I tried installing PowerCinema 6 since it's supposed to be compatible, but it’s either not working or I’m just failing to configure the settings correctly.
Is there any other software out there I could use to watch TV instead?

Thanks in advance for any help.

It probably can, provided the software you choose can actually communicate with the card... though you should really check the manufacturer's website first, as there might be updated drivers available specifically for Windows 7 that would solve this...

You can watch TV through Windows Media Center or even just use VLC 👍

So, I’ve been thinking about getting Windows 7 up and running again, but I’m feeling a little bit out of my depth here—I always tend to overthink these technical things, much to my own chagrin. When I go to install the OS, do I really need to go through the trouble of manually formatting the C: drive myself, or is the system smart enough to just handle that part on its own? Also, once I slide the DVD into the drive, will the installation just kick off automatically like magic, or am I going to have to dive into the BIOS settings to mess with the boot priority or something? I'd love to avoid any unnecessary headaches if I can help it.

You can either do an "upgrade" or a "clean install" (which involves formatting the drive if there's no existing OS present), depending on what you're looking to do.

If you want to format C: (which you should)

Back up all your important files to another partition, an external hard drive, a burned DVD, or a thumb drive...

Pop in the Windows 7 disc and use the built-in formatting option during the setup process. Format C:, then finish the installation.

(If the installer doesn't kick in, jump into the BIOS and set the DVD drive as the primary boot device. Once you're done installing, remember to switch the boot priority back to the hard drive.)

It doesn't get any simpler than that.

Can you actually use a product key meant for the Home Premium version of Windows 7 to activate the Ultimate edition?

It’s pretty obvious that won't work. 🙂

@ ruggedmaker13

Check out the second bullet point here: link.

Even so, there are several ways you can get Windows up and running. 😉
