Thomas Hernandez21 said:Try disabling the Floppy drive in the BIOS settings. That should fix the issue.

If that doesn't work, just install Windows 7 from a USB drive:

Where is that setting located in the BIOS?

When you're booting up the PC, just tap the Delete key until you hit the BIOS. Look for the entry labeled Floppy 3.5" and set that to disabled.

As for navigating the BIOS itself, you should have some guidance in the manual that came with your motherboard. 🙂

If that doesn't work, try installing Windows 7 from a USB drive.

If you want to get Windows 7 running on your hardware, follow this guide. It is straightforward. Stop wasting time looking for other methods.

The Floppy drive is disabled. Trying to create this via USB on a different machine is proving to be an absolute nightmare.

It looks like the American language settings are giving you trouble too (don't blame me, I couldn't help myself)
Just grab a USB flash drive with at least 4GB of space and follow the instructions to make a bootable drive. That way, you can install win using the USB instead of relying on a CD or DVD.
I’ve tried it myself, and I can tell you it runs at least twice as fast as a DVD on my machine. I'm using a cheap 8GB thumb drive—nothing high-end or "turbo-charged," just a budget little thing.

I made it through step four, but after that, I'm completely lost.

The specified disk is invalid.
No disk is selected.

It keeps showing me that error.

When I type in the list, Disk 1 isn't showing up.

😢 yeah, but honestly, I’m pretty lost navigating that site, and even when I actually manage to grab a file, I have absolutely no clue where it ends up on my machine or how the hell I’m supposed to get it running... 😲

It probably ended up in My Documents. If you can't find it, just type the name of the file you downloaded into the Search bar; that should show you exactly where it landed on your computer.
You just run it by clicking on that driver file—the one ending in .exe. Simple enough, I guess.

To ensure a USB to serial adapter functions correctly, installing RC7100 on Windows 7 is recommended. I have done some reading online, but frankly, the specifics remain somewhat obscure to me. My question is: what exactly constitutes an RC build 7100?

That RC build 7100 is essentially the release candidate for Windows 7. It’s practically just a beta version released right before the actual retail version—the one currently sitting on store shelves—which is 7600.

Alright, I am looking for RC7100 or something more recent, but my main concern is whether there is any risk of destabilizing my current Windows installation. I have identified about a dozen potential issues that might arise when applying this RC pack. Has anyone actually installed this on their machine, and if so, are you experiencing any stability problems?

Which version of Windows are you currently running?
As far as I can tell, those RC builds aren't even functional anymore—so there's really no point in bothering with them.

What on earth would you even need an RC version for if you already have the RTM—the actual final production release? I honestly don't follow your logic.

Either that, or if you aren't looking to waste a week, you should be grabbing 6.1.7600 (Windows 7 RTM) instead of some random RC 6.1.7xxx build. 👍

And let's get one thing straight: this isn't some special "pack." It's just a test build, a Release Candidate. It's basically a beta released before the final 7600 version ever hit the shelves. In this day and age, it's completely useless...

If you aren't looking for trouble, you should be using 6.1.7600 (Windows 7 RTM), not some random RC 6.1.7xxx build. 👍

And let's be clear, it’s not some "pack" or whatever. It's just a testing build, a candidate for the final release, basically a beta that came out before the official 7600. Honestly, who needs it these days?

Anyway, how do I actually check which version I'm running on my machine?

thanks

Just hit the Start button and type "winver" into the search bar. 👍

6.1.(build7600)

Looks like a solid 👍👍

It’s identical to what you’ve got in that screenshot

Thanks
