Are you getting any error messages? What exactly is the system spitting out when you try to boot from the CD?

Thomas Green96 said:Can someone explain how to dim the screen on Windows 7? It’s an American menu, I've looked everywhere but can't find it. Is there a keyboard shortcut? Also, how do I get better resolution?

Try hitting that Fn key combo with whatever keys have the little sun icons on them.
If that doesn't cut it, you're probably gonna need to hunt down the specific driver software for your machine to get it working.

I tried those key combinations, but nothing happened. Honestly, I have no idea why it isn't working.
So, what? Do I need to download some specific software? Why isn't this option showing up in my settings?
Noah Sanchez39 said:What kind of laptop are we talking about here? EDIT: Dell, for sure, but which specific model? 🤔

If that doesn't do the trick, just try refreshing the graphics driver 🙄
Thomas Green96 said:yeah, maybe a Compaq Presario CQ71 or something like that, but do they actually have issues with it? I might give it a shot tomorrow since I'm on my PC right now, so I'll let you know...
Keith Bennett38 said:If you're messing around with an HP's laptop, honestly, just grab the Softpaq download manager. It’ll do all the heavy lifting by hunting down every single driver you need and installing them for you automatically.

Thomas Green96 said:So, basically, I'm not trying to mess anything up, I just want to download the program first to get things started, right? Or am I totally off base? And then I'll just grab whatever else I need through them?
Keith Bennett38 said:give it a shot. That's how I handle things on my HP. The software automatically detects your laptop and lays out every single driver currently available, plus all the latest utility software, so you can just pick and choose what you actually want to install.
Personally, I'll grab pretty much everything except for the BIOS updates. My golden rule for the BIOS? If it ain't broke, don't touch it. 🙂
Thomas Green96 said:So, I went ahead and installed that thing, but now it’s just giving me a "no match" error. I tried digging through the program's product catalog to find it myself, but honestly? Nothing. It's just not there.
Mine. Presario CQ 71. Old school. Still around? Barely.
Here’s what they say:
No match found for this specific model.
So, what’s the move?

Look, if you head over to the top right corner next to where it says "SUPPORT & DRIVERS," you'll see a search icon right there.
Just type in "presario cq71"
and the next page should pop up with all the results.
From there, just hunt down the specific model number for your laptop (something like CQ71-100EO). 🙂

I installed the audio drivers—those were already there—but when I tried the graphics driver, it just refused to install. Threw this error at me:

The model is
Here is the exact

And it should be decent enough

Yet I can't run a single game on it.
Everything that runs on old laptops? Nothing. Zilch.
