Audio issues

Hey everyone.

So here’s the deal: a couple of days ago I was gaming on my PC and plugged my headphones directly into the speaker jack. Well, the next time I booted everything up, I realized there’s absolutely zero sound coming out of my speakers, even though if I plug the headphones back in, they work perfectly fine. What the hell is going on? To save you guys the trouble of asking—yeah, the speakers are turned on, the volume is cranked up, they're hooked up to the PC, and all my drivers are totally up to date. I spent some time digging through forums online trying to fix this mess, but I haven't found anything useful yet... If anyone here actually knows what's causing this headache, I would seriously appreciate the help.

Check your audio settings—go to the mixing console -> audio—to see if your headphones are set as the default device. If they are, try switching the default back to your speakers.

Man, it's just a busted headphone jack. It's stuck, so now your PC thinks headphones are plugged in 24/7. Just spray a little WD-40 or some contact cleaner into the port, then plug and unplug your headphones a few times really fast to loosen things up. Happened to me once on an old desktop.

Thanks for all the input, everyone. In the meantime, the whole issue just kind of resolved itself. It was probably what Keith Nguyen7 was talking about, because things just seemed to smooth out on their own...
