Speakers and lightning strikes

Hey,

Does anyone know where I can take some speakers here in Washington, D.C. to see if they're even fixable after getting hit by lightning? I actually popped the sub open to check the board for any obvious burn marks—nothing really jumped out at me—so I'm thinking maybe it was just the power cable that took the hit. I’d really love to get these back up and running since I need them right now and I'm definitely not in the mood to drop cash on a new set... they're a Logitech Z323

If it’s still under warranty, just Google an authorized service center. If not, your local TV repair shop will do the trick...

Btw, did you check the fuse? They should have one, if they're built right...

Pop the speaker open and look right where the power cord enters. You're probably looking for a tiny glass tube held together by metal caps. There should be a thin wire inside. If it's broken, then it's blown...

There isn't a fuse inside the speaker, nor is there one on the sub's internal board where the wires hook up, or even on the power supply board itself... honestly, at this point, I think it's just better to bite the bullet and buy new ones

That’s just how it goes unfortunately,😁 since most people don't bother thinking about surge protection for their electronics until it's too late.If you pick up a high-quality surge protector for next time, you can be pretty certain you won't run into these kinds of "lightning strikes" again.🍿
