The atmosphere down in the North was so intense that even some of the smaller groups were squeezed in between the concrete seats.

That particular match took place ten years ago against Red Star, even though they played earlier than that. Some of those flares from the turf actually ended up landing on the South side of Maksimir😁. You have to admit, the athleticism displayed by certain individuals as they sprinted across the pitch while coordinating their flare lighting was pretty impressive🤣.

Torcida held their own in that derby as well. It was their final year of being a complete melting pot of everything under the sun, but they still made a solid impression

This was the very first derby held under the new—or rather, the rebranded—Dynamo name. I don't think anyone even had Red Star on their radar back then

Anniversary. 10 years since the game against Red Star🙏🙏🙏

The atmosphere down in the North section was so intense that even some of the most hardcore groups were practically squeezed between the concrete seats.

Now, this particular moment took place ten years ago against Red Star, even though games had been played before that. I believe some of those flares from the turf actually ended up landing over by the South Stand at Maksimir😁. It was honestly quite an impressive display of athleticism from certain individuals, seeing them sprint across the pitch while somehow coordinating their movements with a flare in hand🤣.

The Torcida crew also put on a great show during that derby. It was probably their last year being such a wild, unpredictable mix of everything under the sun, but they certainly left a lasting impression

.

There were three advertising vehicles parked right below the South Stand—one red, one white, and one blue. I guess the fans did a pretty thorough job of covering them in debris back then😁

It felt like Rajko Dujmić stepped out under the south stands with such composure to rally the Torcida, though I recall a few things being tossed his way during the excitement.🤣
It’s been a lifetime ago, so I might be conflating this with a different rivalry match against Red Star, though I have a nagging feeling the announcer made some sort of joke about it at the time.

Man, this was ages ago... I might be mixing this up with some other rivalry involving Red Star, though I could swear the announcer was definitely taking the piss out of us back then...

You’re thinking of the other game, the one from May 16, 2000—that second leg of the Cup final against Hajduk. The whole atmosphere was absolutely electric because of all the chaos that went down in Miami just a few days prior. Back then, there was that whole tribute on May 13th to honor the Bad Boys who lost their lives in the war...

The only derby I can actually remember happening right on May 13th was back in 2006... that one where Dynamo took it 1-0 thanks to a goal from Luka Modrić.

I gotta dig through my old ticket stubs... maybe I missed a game that happened on that date... maybe somewhere in there...

Honestly, back then, the league format was a complete mess. They had those "championship vs. relegation" split groups, which meant you could end up playing at least four derbies a year. Throw in a likely two-legged cup tie and the Super Cup, and you’re looking at seven potential derbies in a single season... it just totally sucked the competitive tension right out of the game.

At the time, they tried to pitch it as some kind of massive advantage for American soccer, but let's be real—it was a disaster. The only thing more nonsensical was what they do in Greece, where they run some weird playoff at the end of the season. It makes the regular season standings basically irrelevant; if you make the playoffs, you could theoretically finish third and still walk away with the title.🤦

I’ve always been on the same page as Štimac when he argued that a standard double round-robin is the most natural way to run a league. And honestly... he's right.

A bunch of mindless puppets—who used to be controlled by the old guard but are now being run from some suburban outpost—are out there dancing to cheap music and waving foreign flags in the locker room, while the boss's brother slides right into a seat on the board. Honestly, who gives a damn about the Europa League at this point? It’s pathetic.

Well, I personally don't care much about them; I'm just looking forward to the next away games and seeing what kind of chaos unfolds.
Everyone plays their own game, if you ask me.

Unknown... A flag? Seriously?

Forget the flags—I don't care about any of them.
Just 25 years ago, people were tearing each other apart, and so much life was lost just so this same old gang could stay in power. Now they sit in expensive suits in fancy offices, still splitting families and forcing people out of their homes.
All that fighting just ended up with former enemies living together far away from the very countries they swore to protect.

Half a million lives lost in the last decade alone, and nobody even blinked.
Your real enemy is the POLITICIAN, no matter where you live! And you still think it's about a flag? Get real!

Screw all those flags—doesn't matter which one you're waving.
Look, 25 years ago people were tearing each other apart, and so much life was wasted just so this same old gang of elites could stay in power—sitting in their fancy suits and offices, still playing the same games, still separating people from their homes and families.
All that killing just ended up with the same "enemies" living together far away from the very countries they claimed to be fighting for.

Half a million lives gone in the last decade, and nobody even blinked.
Your only real enemy is the POLITICIAN, no matter what country you're in. And you actually think it's about some flag? You're such a sheep.

Go shove it, you and all those pseudo-intellectual liberal idiots. Luckily, the kids in the stands today aren't buying your nonsense.

Otherwise, it's just total bullshit. 🤣

To hell with any flag, whether it represents one side or another.
If you look back twenty-five years, people were tearing each other apart, wasting an unimaginable amount of life just so the same corrupt groups could stay in power, sitting in their expensive suits and offices, continuing to separate families from their homes.
All that senseless violence essentially resulted in the same enemies living together far away from the very countries they once swore to protect.

Half a million lives have been lost over the last decade, and hardly anyone even blinked.
Your true enemy isn't a symbol; it’s the politician, regardless of where they stand. Yet, you still think a flag is the core issue—don't be such a follower.

1. It really is an issue. Just as failing to respect the sanctity of a locker room leads to chaos, failing to respect symbols can lead to the kind of societal breakdowns you're describing. It's much the same; if you don't value the foundation, you ultimately fail to honor the sacrifices made by those who came before us.
2. In any stable and functioning society, there is a necessary categorization of things. Trying to trivialize historical violence by grouping everyone together simply doesn't fly in a civilized world.
3. The flag itself remains a point of contention, if only to ensure we don't lose sight of our history.
4. These points aren't mutually exclusive, so I think you're making an unnecessary leap by trying to link recent migration trends directly to older historical events.
5. To be honest, that last point sounds a bit like what warwa mentioned earlier, especially when you consider how dominant the media narrative has become lately.
6. Most of our youth have moved to nations that formed their national identities under questionable circumstances, often achieving economic growth through methods that mirror how our own politicians line their pockets.
7. Analyst skills clearly aren't your strong suit; this feels more like a casual conversation at a local pub. I'm only just realizing how deeply politics permeates everything in this country.
8. I can almost predict your rebuttal: "I don't care about the fools left behind who keep voting for the same people. Stay stuck in poverty and ignorance while the politicians bleed you dry."

Best regards,😁

Cheap flights to Lisbon

I wonder if they have some local dive bar over there where they’ll scrub the Bad Boys logo off the wall a few days before the game starts. 🤷

I honestly don't know if there are places over there—you know, like some local diner or restaurant—where they'll actually go through the trouble of scrubbing the Yankees logo off the wall just a few days before the season starts. 🤷

I mean, why wouldn't we just grab a van and hit the road?😁
