Best face wash recommendations?

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a daily face wash that’s actually gentle enough to not cause a massive breakout or irritation. My skin is incredibly sensitive; I used to deal with some pretty aggressive acne, which has mostly cleared up now, but I’m still left with the scarring. Up until lately, I’ve been using CeraVe, which isn't bad—it doesn't really strip my skin dry or anything—but I’ve noticed it irritates the skin on my neck quite a bit if I use it right after shaving. It seems fine if I wait maybe two days after a shave, but that's a hassle.
If anyone knows of a high-quality product that won't make me regret my life choices...

At one point, I was dealing with some pretty stubborn skin issues, so I went to see a specialist over in Chicago. They actually told me to stop wasting money on those overpriced fancy cleansers and just stick to washing my face with regular Dove... and honestly, I have to say, I’m thrilled with the results. My skin doesn't feel tight or stripped at all, it isn't irritated, and it hasn't triggered any breakouts... so yeah... give it a shot.
But besides that... why are you so set on using a bar soap? Have you thought about trying a cleansing gel instead? I used the La Roche-Posay Effaclar line for oily skin and it worked wonders.

Look, I’m not necessarily hunting for just a bar of soap—any kind of cleanser will do, I guess.
My skin gets incredibly oily; honestly, whenever I touch my face, it feels like I've just slathered on a layer of grease. Using soap used to do the trick perfectly fine, but the effect is always so fleeting... maybe half a day at most before the shine comes back.
I think I'll give Dove a shot and see how it goes.

I’m not sure if you’ve actually sat down with a dermatologist yet, but if you haven't, I really think you should make that appointment... they might be able to clear up everything, or at the very least, tackle some of those specific skin issues you're dealing with... plus, they'll give you a targeted list of products they actually believe will work for your skin type (though, a word of warning: don't let them push you into buying those ridiculously overpriced luxury brands just because they can!)

Thanks for the tip, but I’ve never stepped foot in a dermatologist's office and honestly, I don't plan to. I’m just not a fan of doctors in general. I guess you could say I prefer to be my own doctor.

Got sensitive skin that tends to get oily? I wouldn't touch Dove. It’s basically just a classic soap with some cream added in, which ends up drying you out while leaving a film on your face that can trigger breakouts.

By the way, I tried Dove today and it isn't half bad, but it definitely dries my skin out quite a bit—I get that tight feeling on my face afterward. Still, it feels really gentle, I suppose.

I’d honestly suggest just seeing a dermatologist. Since you mentioned your skin gets oily, that's usually what triggers breakouts—and if it's actually a hormonal thing, I guess a specialist is really the only one who can actually help.
