Best math software/tools?

Does anyone know if there are specific programs available for handling derivatives or performing matrix operations, such as generating identity matrices and things of that nature?

MATLAB, Wolfram Mathematica....
(The first one is—well, it's decent enough for what you're trying to do)

I suspect he doesn't actually need a tool just to type this stuff out into Word—or whatever else he's using...
he needs something that can actually handle the calculations itself...

Anyway, I'll say it again—WOLFRAM MATHEMATICA... it's really the gold standard for crunching any kind of math you throw at it...
Just spend some time digging through that excellent help documentation you have access to...
