Well, let Hans get to teaching then! 😠

He's learning, he's learning... Here's a list of picture books for toddlers aged 1 to 2.

Maybe that could actually work—having Hans and the baby learn American together. 🙂

The whole point is they learn together 🙂 besides, I have to speak English with the baby.

🤔 I think you both should stick to your own languages mostly, but sprinkle in bits of the other one. If Hans is picking up American slang, then for the sake of balance, shouldn't you be throwing in some German 🤔 too? 🤔

The pediatrician told me he’s picking up on whatever language we speak at home. Apparently, if I want him to develop proper pronunciation, I need to stop letting him hear my own grammatical slip-ups and deal with Hans's weird accent from how much he struggles with American English. Hans and I both speak German when we're out in public with the little guy, but once it's just the three of us, I stick strictly to American.

ahaaaa 🤔 ok so 👍 I was thinking, if Hans is learning English with him, then it’s just not right that you aren't speaking English back to him too 😵

Forget about German. Let the little baby master American English first, then we can worry about teaching him German later.
Just imagine if his very first word was "mutter" or "Hans" instead of "Mommy."

In the end, his first word might just be "grandma." 😁

Speaking of which, I’m actually embarrassed to admit that Hans once tried to learn American... 😁

It’s right there in black and white—clearly, they spent their time mastering the art of the swear word.

I just finished reading the page, and honestly,

Grace Anderson3, you're absolutely right—it's always better this way. Every parent should talk to their Baby in their own language.👍

stormygardener93, what on earth are you doing here? You've been hanging around this forum since 2005!

Yeah
but up until last year, I mostly just hung out in the "unreleased series" threads and dropped a few random posts here and there.
It wasn't until February of last year that I actually discovered Carl Orff, and since then, I've started posting much more often.
