On July 8th, I ended up breaking both my hip and my shoulder—which led to a quick trip to the Trauma Center. They installed a titanium gamma nail in my hip, and so far, everything seems to be going smoothly. Honestly, reading through all your experiences here just adds so much helpful context to what the doctors at the hospital have already told me. I’ve got an orthopedic bed set up at home now, and I'm staying busy with my exercises. I even had a walker for a few days, though I've moved on to crutches—and I make sure to use them exactly the way you all suggested is correct. Between the leg exercises and the breathing techniques, I'm keeping at it, even if my shoulder is still being a bit stubborn. I'm also on Pradaxa for the time being. I just wanted to say thank you for every single bit of advice shared here... and yes, I noticed my profile says I was born in 1950—but age is just a number when it comes to spirit, right? Sending my very best to everyone, and please know I am truly grateful for every suggestion you offer. 🎉😁

Does anyone know if they actually run hip surgeries at Shalat Saturday, or is it one of those things where you have to wait until Monday or Wednesday?
A coworker of mine is scheduled to check into the hospital this Friday for her surgery.

Anyone here ever dealt with surgeries over at the big municipal hospital?

I witnessed an elderly gentleman (around 77) take a nasty fall today—a hip fracture. It was honestly pretty gruesome to watch. A whole crowd of people rushed over to try and help him up, but it became immediately obvious that he couldn't put any weight on his leg. Just by looking at how his leg was positioned, I was almost certain it was a broken hip. The paramedics eventually arrived and I assume they took care of everything, but I’ve been sitting here wondering: what is the actual right way to react when you see something like this? Should you just leave them lying there? Is it better to stop people from trying to move them? In this case, we were waiting about 45 minutes for the ambulance, and since he fell in such a cramped, awkward spot, leaving him stuck in that position felt totally wrong. But then again, I can't help but worry—could trying to lift him have actually made the hip injury even worse?
