Bump on my neck

My doctor told me yesterday there’s a cyst on my neck. Everything would have been fine if I hadn't spotted the word "benign" on my referral, but I just panicked immediately. I'm heading in for some more detailed tests tomorrow, and I guess I'm hoping for the best. I was also wondering—does every single growth qualify as a tumor? My understanding is that the only difference is whether they turn out to be malignant or benign.

Basically, benign just means it's non-cancerous, so... it isn't cancer.
