I’ve always had these mental images that just trigger whenever I hear certain songs. It’s not about music videos or actual things that happened—though sometimes those mess with the vibe—it’s more like this subconscious, intuitive link between sound and sight.

The Klan snatched my kid

The visuals that flood my brain when I’m spinning something like Neil Young's Cortez The Killer or Powderfinger, or even those early Pink Floyd tracks like Echoes or Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun... they're just too intense. Honestly, I don't think I'll ever find a real-world equivalent to what I'm seeing, unless I decide to go out and get high...
Maybe I could find some kind of chaotic explosion of color to match up with Manitoba, now that I really think about it...

That particular piece is by the British artist David Shrigley...
I recall seeing it somewhere before. Perhaps it was at an exhibition he held here a few years back, or maybe I just spotted it in a gallery catalog—honestly, the memory is a bit hazy. 🤔
