Chest wall deformities

I'm 16 and dealing with some chest wall deformity. It’s starting to become really noticeable now, and honestly, it's getting to me... I'm about 6'7" too. I was wondering if there are any orthopedic braces or devices that could help shrink the appearance of my chest? I've heard swimming can help through exercise, but I’d much rather wear a brace to try and reduce it even a little bit. If anything exists, please let me know what it is and how I can get one... URGENT

I don't think so—you’d probably find it pretty hard to even take a breath.
Go hit up a gym or something, and maybe grab some advice from a physical therapist who can actually point you toward the right exercises.

What kind of deformity are we even talking about here?

Is it Pectus Excavatum?

If that’s what it is, my kid is 15, and when we went to see a specialist at a private orthopedic clinic with Smith in Springfield, they actually recommended a chest brace for him...

It’s pretty basic—just a couple of straps and a small plate that applies pressure inward... you basically get to decide how much pressure to apply yourself.

They told us he’d need to wear it for two years (obviously, he takes it off to shower or during PE class at school)

Anyway, he’s been wearing it for about six months now, and honestly, you can already see an improvement.

We had to shell out for the brace ourselves since we went through private doctors—not that the doctors at the public clinics ever even mentioned this as a correction option, by the way—but it ended up costing us around $600-$233....

So, yeah... if this helps you out, I'm glad.
