Hey everyone!! So, I’m dealing with some pretty bad constipation lately, and a friend suggested I try using Plant detox tea...
I’m a little skeptical about these types of teas, though... she’s been drinking it every single night for over a year now and she’s super regular every morning. To me, it just doesn't feel right. It almost feels like a form of bulimia to me—like everything you eat during the day just gets "flushed out" the next morning. 🙂
And... if, heaven forbid, she didn't go to the bathroom the next day, she’d get all anxious and upset, convinced she’d gained weight overnight... 😠 I honestly think it's a bit of an eating disorder.
What are your thoughts on these teas? Do they actually speed up your metabolism, or do they end up slowing it down since the body basically learns to just pass everything through without really processing it?🙄

There’s just no way everything she eats ends up being flushed out. The body only gets rid of the excess... it holds onto the nutrients and the good stuff regardless of any tea she drinks. For example.

It isn't healthy to constantly drink tea or anything else designed to force fluids out and speed up digestion. It's fine to give your system a little help with herbal teas every once in a while. Or you might reach for them if you're dealing with actual digestive issues (which happens more often with older folks, and your friend isn't exactly old, right...). But using this as a regular weight loss tactic to prevent food from being "absorbed" is a bad idea.

The only real result will be lazy bowels. Her system will become so reliant on those teas that it won't even bother functioning on its own anymore.

In your situation, if you really are struggling with constipation, my first and most important advice would be to look at your diet. I mean focusing on exactly what you're putting into your body—eating things that don't weigh down your system and are easy for your stomach to process.

And honestly, I wouldn't go looking for advice from friends... I'd talk to a doctor.

Even if she isn't talking nonsense, her digestive issues aren't the same as yours, so one size definitely doesn't fit all when it comes to treatment.

As for that Plant tea, I can't tell you much because I've never heard of it. To be honest, I don't even have bowel issues myself, so I don't have any personal tips to offer. Everything I've said here is just my general take on the matter, not based on personal experience.

just Sandy said:The only real consequence is that her digestive system will get lazy. Her gut will become so sluggish that it won't even function on its own anymore.

So.. that theory about slowing down your metabolism still holds water.. the laziness of the gut and all that..😲
I'm working on my diet, I started the UN diet.. mainly because of some extra weight but mostly to regulate my metabolism... The UN plan is heavy on fruit for breakfast, veggies for lunch, salads... Hopefully, it helps. Actually, I really believe it will...👍
