I’ve been having this weird little hiccup lately—it actually just happened about five minutes ago—where my screen goes black for maybe a second or two before snapping back to life. When it does, I catch this little notification pop up in the corner saying "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered," though it moves so fast I can barely read the whole thing. I’m pretty sure my graphics drivers are completely up to date, so I was wondering if there might be something else lurking under the hood causing this, or if it’s almost certainly just a driver issue?

I've seen this before. Could be an app issue, maybe 10-15%, or some hardware glitching out at 20%... the rest is probably just bad drivers or shitty utility software. Try rolling back to an older driver; the current one might be buggy. If it keeps happening, run a VRAM test.

It seems like about 99% of the time, this whole mess happens specifically when I'm browsing the web using Mozilla Firefox, so our next move is going to be testing out some different graphics drivers to see if that clears things up, and then we'll take it from there.

It’s happening all over again—my screen just goes black for a second or two, and then I get that annoying "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" pop-up. So far, it seems to be acting up exclusively when I'm using Mozilla Firefox. My graphics card drivers are completely up to date, so I can't really blame that. Is it possible my GPU is actually starting to die on me?

Could be bad hardware, faulty RAM, a buggy driver, or just Mozilla Firefox acting up. Pick your poison 🤣

Hold on, Lucille, if everything was working fine six months ago, why are we back at square one? How often is this actually happening—is it just once a day or are we talking ten times? Also, what do the temperature graphs look like? Maybe try testing it out in a different browser, like Chrome, just to rule things out.

So far, it seems to be strictly an issue within Mozilla Firefox. My graphics drivers are totally up to date, so I have to wonder... is my GPU actually dying on me?

Try heading into the Mozilla Firefox settings and toggling off "Use hardware acceleration when available"—then just see if that stops the glitching.

I’m finally back from my trip!
@ Cilim
Yeah, it definitely happened—honestly, it feels like it's happening at least five times a day. My GPU temperature hits 49°C, but I haven't checked it in a different browser since I don't have another one installed right now, though I'll give that a shot soon.
@Jack Alvarez/">@@Jack Alvarez I'll give that a try.
