Hey there

I just turned it down a bit before jumping into a game, and then—bam—Blue Screen of Death. It’s giving me that whole "a problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage" routine, blah blah blah. Below that, it lists some technical info: STOP:0x0000007F(0x0000000000000008,0x0000000080050 033,0x00000000000406F8 i 0xFFFFF96000091667)
win32.sys-Adress FFFFF9600009167 base at FFFFF96000020000, DateSta
558bc272

It also says stuff at the bottom like "collecting data for crash dump, initializing disk for crash dump, beginning dump of physical memory to disk:100" and so on.
If anyone actually knows what's going on, please let me know. This kind of thing has happened before, but back then the PC just rebooted itself—this time I had to manually restart it. If I can get an image uploaded, I'll show you guys exactly what I'm looking at.
Thanks, everyone.

From what I've seen, the issue usually boils down to a corrupted Windows file—you might want to try running a repair on Windows to see if that clears things up.

EDIT: Are you able to boot into Safe Mode? (just tap F8 while the computer is starting up)

Yeah, I can. But what exactly is a Windows repair? Never actually done that before.

Why don't you try booting back into Safe Mode? Once you're there, make sure to open the command prompt as an administrator—that part is pretty important—and then just type this in:
sfc /scannow

Hit enter and just hang tight while it finishes up.

Alright, it finished. It ended up telling me "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations." So... now what?

The thing is, I don't have enough space left on my C drive, so this whole process won't even work for me.👎

You might want to try clearing out your system restore points—it’s pretty likely they've just been hogging up a ton of your disk space lately..

Where do I even find that?

It’s happening again—that annoying "The following issues are preventing Windows from upgrading..." message popped up out of nowhere.
Apparently, there isn't enough room on my C: drive. It says I need 11,464 MB of free space to move forward. It's telling me to
Try disk Cleanup or just shove some files onto a thumb drive or an external hard drive before trying the install again.
The thing is, I already cleared out some system restore points and I've only got 6.24 GB of space left.

Maybe try downloading CCleaner and running it in Safe Mode to clear out all that junk—see if that actually frees up some space? If that doesn't do the trick, my honest advice would be to just wipe the drive and go for a fresh installation of Windows.

Even that didn't do squat.

Well, in that case—you might want to boot into Safe Mode and move all your important files, like photos and documents, over to an external drive first. After that, just wipe the hard drive and do a fresh installation of Windows.

So, does this mean all my games and apps are getting wiped out? And where am I supposed to move all my data to?
Plus, I’ve only had these Windows installed for maybe four weeks.

Why not give it a shot and expand your C drive by shrinking your D partition instead? (Assuming you actually have one available, of course.) You can use that little utility shown in this video here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWThjaDt8a4

I actually tested this out on a laptop once, and honestly, the software was a lifesaver for the C drive when I was down to just a few gigabytes of free space.

http://prntscr.com/8464vp—so I’m trying to expand this by 9GB, but for some reason, it just shows up right in front of the partition instead. Why's it doing that?
EDIT: actually, whatever, it's working—you go to add more space, hit merge, it asks for a reboot, and then after the restart, it's back to square one.😵

🤔I think you might have missed a step somewhere. Maybe take another look at the tutorial? Did you remember to hit Apply at the end to actually confirm those partition changes? It worked perfectly fine on my machine without any hiccups... P.S. No need to get frustrated just yet. 😁

Yeah. I’m pretty sure this only works if you're running the original version.
I mean, I've looked at it like six times now.

I honestly have no clue; everything ran perfectly fine on my end right away... Did you make sure to grab the version specifically designed for your operating system, or does this one work across all of them? I can't quite recall myself.
