Do Italians eat cats?

I honestly can't say for certain what the truth is here. I’ve spent quite a bit of time listening to the urban legends floating around...

However, if there happens to be a living witness in this forum who could actually testify to having seen such a thing in Italy, that would finally provide the starting point we need to dismantle this myth once and for all..

Up until this point, I had been under the impression that Italians had a penchant for eating cats... But, seeing as our modern society seems to churn out endless amounts of nonsense on a daily basis, I prefer to rely on verifiable facts rather than hearsay..

So, I ask you: do they actually eat cats over there?

No, they are Chinese.
Furthermore, Italians don't even eat frogs, despite our little nickname for them.

I find those people who get all worked up about their "dietary preferences" to be quite peculiar...

The ones I’ve encountered around here aren't exactly looking for a five-course meal at a steakhouse; they’re more interested in hunting down sparrows and various types of flies. They go after snails in just about every conceivable way—though, if I’m being honest, the idea of those little garden snails crawling all over a fresh salad is particularly revolting to me—and as far as frogs go, I’m fairly certain that’s part of their repertoire too.

My sister lives in New York City, and her husband is Italian. (His mother is from Alabama, while his father is from New York)|| I spent quite a bit of time out there... and I know plenty of Italians.

No, I wouldn't say they are all that different from us in that regard.
While their diet certainly differs from ours, there isn't anything particularly "exotic" about it.

Good grief, if that's the case, then why does the old legend about selling cats to an Italian still persist?
I suppose they aren't out there selling them to the Chinese for dinner, are they?
