Doctors

..I am curious about one thing: how much faith do you actually place in your physician? When a doctor hands you a diagnosis, do you take it as gospel, or do you find yourself digging through medical journals and second-guessing the results? Do you immediately seek a second opinion from a specialist? I’ve noticed in smaller towns across America that misdiagnoses seem to be a common topic of conversation among locals, which makes me wonder if this level of skepticism is a widespread issue throughout the entire country.

It feels like this just keeps happening—mostly because our healthcare system is basically in a coma right now, and honestly, what they're doing with this strike feels pretty wrong to me.

In my personal opinion, everyone should be allowed to walk off the job except for doctors, priests, and artists.

I mean, imagine you’re heading in to confess your sins and the priest just looks at you and goes—sorry, I'm on strike today.

Take the sister of my ex, for example—she was diagnosed with schizophrenia, code F-20, and spent four years on Lexapro, only to travel all the way to Washington, D.C., where the doctors there concluded she didn't actually show any symptoms of schizophrenia under that specific diagnosis.

It’s the same old story... people in many different cities don't receive an actual diagnosis until they finally make it to Washington, D.C... it isn't always the case, but it happens far too often enough.🙄

Regarding the strike, I find myself in agreement, though I would venture to add professors to that list. Their walkouts feel less like a negotiation with the government and more like an act of extortion against parents, using their children’s education as leverage to deny them essential knowledge.
As for the doctors, surely we must acknowledge that every profession possesses its share of stellar and subpar employees, yet should we really judge an entire field by the failings of a few? We all stumble from time to time, do we not?
And as for this pervasive myth regarding the supposed perfection of physicians found only in major metropolitan hubs like New York City, I shall refrain from commenting entirely; such a fallacy applies just as readily to almost any other vocation.
