I didn't see an existing thread about this band, so I figured I'd start one right here.


This group basically formed as a supergroup, pulling together musicians from several different heavy hitters. You can definitely hear the influence of the legendary Pantera guys in their sound, specifically Phil Anselmo and bassist Rex Brown. Rounding out the lineup, you've also got Pepper Keenan, Kirk Windstein, and Jimmy Bower.
They've put out three main albums:
Nola - 1995
Down II: A Bustle In Your Hegerow - 2002
Down III: Over The Under - 2007

The second one is actually stellar—the third holds its own, I suppose—but that first one? Absolutely bottom of the barrel. 🤷

The first one was incredible, the second one was alright, but I haven't even gotten to the third one yet 🙂

I guess I'm torn between them and Maiden since I doubt I could pull off both shows, but Down is definitely my first pick—I mean, Pepper is a total legend. 🙂 🙂

The only thing for me was that Purple EP didn't really hit. Only "Witchtripper," and even then, the lyrics and vocals missed the mark for me. 🙂

2. It’s not an instant hit on the first listen, just like most Down stuff (I actually wasn't a fan of Nola at first 🤣), but if you give it some time, it kills. Levitation and Open Coffins are 🙏, and everything else is great.

I mean, I definitely noticed that too... when I first heard it, the only tracks that actually grabbed me were Stone the Crow, Rehab, Stained Glass Cross, Learn from this mistake (which, I guess, reminds me a bit of Shelter by COC), and On March the Saints. But now? I feel like I pretty much love almost all of it.

Who would have thought they'd actually be coming to Chicago! It's looking pretty likely that people will make the trip. 😍 $40 Honestly, there isn't all that much to give for them.

Honestly, I think COC is way better than any of those other bands people keep bringing up. There’s this rumor going around that Pepper might actually make a comeback soon, but I guess they’ll only really get back together if Anselmo decides to breathe some life back into Pantera.
