Earplugs

Does anyone happen to know where I can pick up some stuff in Washington, D.C.?

You know those sleep masks? The kind that actually blocks out every single bit of light so you can pass out instantly? It’s just like that iconic look Audrey Hepburn pulls off in *Breakfast at Tiffany's*. Honestly, if you want to actually get some rest, you need one.
I went looking for those silicone earplugs at the CVS, but all they had were those foam ones that feel like sandpaper against your skin. Honestly, they're so scratchy!

I swear, I’ve checked every single pharmacy in town, and even CVS is completely wiped out! They just don't have it anywhere!
Are we seriously such a "tiny little nothing" that I actually have to fly all the way to Austria just to deal with this kind of nonsense?😕

I picked up some masks at H&M and also at the airport.
I always get my earplugs from the pharmacy—the foam ones, which work perfectly fine.
They have silicone ones too, but I don't really bother with those for the pool since I have some issues with one of my ears. You can find them easily enough at any local drugstore.

(I started trying to explain myself since, let's face it, I felt like I was in the middle of nowhere), only for the woman behind the counter to pull out four different kinds!!!!! Like, foam ones, silicone ones, all sorts... and she just looks at me and goes, "Which ones do you want?"

I almost passed out right then and there.

But honestly, if you go to a pharmacy in NYC, they definitely have tons of earplugs... probably dozens of different types!

I bet if you go to a big drugstore in NYC, they’ve got endless rows of earplugs in every shape and size imaginable!

I can't believe it. I've checked four or five different drugstores myself, and every single time they only had that one type—those foam ones that just scratch my ears up.

I saw some earplugs over at the Turbo grinder.. I guess they might be okay, but I'm not really sure if they'll work for you..

Honestly, my biggest fear is that they’re just selling those cheap silicone earplugs designed for swimming..
I spent years hunting through every pharmacy in the US looking for actual silicone earplugs, and I could never find them anywhere; everyone just kept telling me to try looking abroad, though I really doubt anything has changed lately...

Maybe give it a shot at the hospital

Legica sent me a full sleep mask and some silicone earplugs as a gift—they gave them out to their business partners as little "travel kits" along with an inflatable pillow. ☕
Since I had this incredibly annoying bird nesting near my house that would wake me up every single morning at 5 AM with its obnoxious cooing 🙂 😠 😠, I’ve been using those earplugs non-stop and they seriously saved my sanity (and my life!). I was actually looking to buy myself some new ones but had no clue where to find them... thank goodness I was bored at work and digging through this forum... 😬

Those Swiss foam earplugs are actually decent for blocking out noise, though they can be a bit scratchy if you aren't careful—just make sure you follow the instructions exactly when you're putting them in. You’ve got to compress them as much as possible and really shove them in there. Once they expand inside your ear, you'll sleep like a baby. I don't hear anything anymore, not even some crazy crow in the park or the pets over in
. The downside is you can't wear them forever because they eventually harden up, which is why they start feeling abrasive. You can actually wash them in lukewarm water, but honestly, after three or four times, they're done. They aren't expensive, though—check $1.50. If you want to try those silicone ones, I saw them at the shop on El Paso Street, 4655918; they had them in stock. But from what I know, those are waterproof.

It seems we’re dealing with some sort of psychological-linguistic phenomenon here. I actually "read" the plane myself—knowing how those oxygen masks work—and I was under the distinct impression that was exactly what the text was addressing.🤣

I’ve got this foolproof technique: I just pop one earplug in and press the other ear firmly into my pillow 🙂 it really helps

One time, the mosquitoes absolutely drove me insane 🙂 so I just threw both earplugs in—I didn't hear a single thing, not even my alarm or my phone—and I slept like a log, mostly because I was just so exhausted 🙂 from all the stress those bugs were causing me...

I usually only wear a sleep mask when I want to catch some extra sleep on Saturdays... honestly, the morning sunlight wakes me up just as easily (it's basically like animals making noise outside)☕

I'm such a light sleeper—even the tiniest sound wakes me right up. But if it’s something trivial (like a 😁 mourning dove), I just ignore it completely and drift back to sleep...
