Hey everyone, I’ve totally fallen in love with this kind of hall setup, and now I'm wondering where I could actually find a venue like this in the San Francisco area... any suggestions?

Royal Peak Restaurant... I've been looking at their photos and they are exactly what I have in mind. I guess I'm wondering if anyone knows of a venue in California that could pull off a similar vibe?

Just to clarify our musical lineup... we’ve booked a guitarist, an accordion player, a mandolin player, and another vocalist—though essentially, they all sing. Three of them are part of the local choir at St. Jude's, and the fourth is from the community over in Riverside. I received a recommendation that they were the premier choice, specifically noting that Ed Segota is arguably the finest tenor in the country. After listening to them, I have to say, I was genuinely impressed. They’ll be performing Ave Maria during the ceremony, and if we decide on anything else, they can accommodate us.
Initially, I had planned on skipping the accordion, but I was advised it might be a bit too quiet, so I suppose I've abandoned my original idea. 🙂
If anyone happens to need their contact information, just let me know.

You can totally go take some photos over at Miles'. I swung by about a month ago just to scope out the place—didn't have any real intention of booking anything serious or even looking too hard, just wanted to see what they were offering. 😍 My wife was actually the first one to tell me once I put on the wedding dress, "Okay, now you can take some pictures..." I didn't even plan on doing this! 😂

Check out the President Hotel in San Jose or the Atrium in San Francisco... you might find something similar there. 😁
They host weddings there that are top notch—everything is solid.

Has anyone here actually used the wedding venue in Monterey? Specifically, what’s the deal with the Amadeus band?
I feel like I've scrolled through almost every thread on this board, but I still can't find a straight answer.😕

If you mean that blue ballroom right off the highway—the one with both a ground floor and an upper level—I've heard rumors that the music tends to bleed between floors. Apparently, people also mention it can get quite chilly or drafty in there...

I was at one of those parties once... they had Kocka playing—honestly, they were way below Top Notch—but I didn't even notice the music blending together like that

Hello! I need a little help here... if anyone knows anything. What’s the vibe at Hotel Castles in Monterey? Has anyone ever hosted a party there? And what about that Fabula Wedding Center in San Francisco? Does anyone know if it's any good? Honestly, I care most about the food. Help! This is driving me crazy! We're planning a small wedding... but the more time passes, the more I realize hosting 300 people might actually be easier than trying to pull off just 50. 🙂

Arthur Phillips12-------- I've heard Phoenix is actually quite impressive when it comes to the food scene... I suppose you might find it appealing as well.

Bradley Jones9: I just booked the Phoenix. I went there for a party recently and everyone said it was awesome. Plus, the lounge looks killer and the price isn't half bad either. ;-)

Quick question for you all: what do you think is actually worth the money? (And sorry if I sound a bit blunt discussing such a formal occasion like this). Is it better to rent out a venue and bring in a private catering crew, or just book a restaurant that handles everything themselves? We’re looking at a reception for about 50 to 60 people... thanks in advance for any advice you can give me.

Apparently, my tone rubbed "someone" the wrong way. Look, I’ve been lurking on this forum forever—especially back when I was planning my wedding—and I’ve seen posts just like mine a million times. They're basically identical.
So, my bad if it came off a certain way, but I was just giving my two cents because I am genuinely obsessed with this band. I guess you aren't allowed to be honest and recommend stuff you actually love anymore.😕

When someone shows up here with only three posts under their belt and immediately starts raving about a photographer, a band, or some florist... we’re going to assume it’s a paid plug. We work too hard to scrub undercover advertising from this board to let it slide. Sorry, but those are the rules, and we’re deleting these recommendations.

If you have issues with moderation, take them to my DMs. Let’s keep this thread strictly for advice and planning weddings in California. Thanks.

To all the ladies here who have already tied the knot, I was wondering if you might be able to share some advice regarding makeup artists? I’d love to know who you think is truly the best, who did your wedding day look, and whether you were genuinely happy with the results... It would be absolutely wonderful if you could send me their contact information via private message. Thank you so much!

Now, to address the post above mine—when my fiancé and I were considering a smaller wedding, we actually looked into something similar, though we were thinking about renting a tent and hiring outside catering. In the end, we found that it turned out to be quite a bit more expensive per person than just booking a traditional banquet hall. My take is that if you're already booking a venue, there's really no need to bring in separate catering; it's probably easier to just go with their food. Personally, I find the restaurant option much more charming, and that’s definitely what I would choose if I were opting for a smaller celebration again. I hope this helps you out just a little bit.

So, regarding the restaurant, their dining room, and the food... yeah, it was fine. Thanks a lot, I guess. Moving on. Any recommendations out there? By the way, we're talking about the San Diego area...

I suppose I’m not entirely sure if anyone would even consider renting out a venue without including catering, given that those margins are likely where they make their real profit... I guess it really just depends on what their specific policies are.

Look, there’s plenty of space available for rent—think community centers, banquet halls, or even just a room at a mid-sized hotel for an evening. It shouldn't be outrageously expensive if you play it right. My main priorities are decent restrooms, enough power outlets, and ideally, having tables and chairs already on-site. I’m picturing something like a press conference room or a small multipurpose room at a local sports complex or boutique hotel. We could spruce the place up a bit, bring in my own sound system, and then just hire a professional catering crew to handle the food and service...
Does that sound like a viable plan to you guys? We're looking at a group of about 50 people...
