To be perfectly honest, I’ve never been much of a fan of Drace either... but then again,

I’ve been to a few weddings there, and usually, the crew does a fancy dinner on the terrace until midnight, then the older crowd heads home while the younger crowd moves over to Zbirac until 3 or 4 in the morning for an all-night party—you can even go for a swim 🙂

Or maybe something like this (if I’m reading the photos right, is this the beach at Hotel Split)?

If I recall correctly, this was Sustipan... I actually had my own wedding ceremony held there before heading to the courthouse.

If anyone is currently planning a wedding for May 24, 2014, and has their heart set on the Velum restaurant, I wanted to let you know that the date is available. We had actually booked the venue a few months back, but we’ve decided to change our wedding date...
Best regards,😍

Tulsa isn't exactly anything special, but Drace is closer to 6.2 miles 😁

Salo actually looks pretty great at first glance 🙂

Does anyone happen to know much about the usual traditions regarding gifts for godparents or parents during weddings? I've been wondering if there's an unwritten rule about whether the couple absolutely has to get them something special.
Also, does anyone have any good recommendations for cakes, floral arrangements, or hairstylists in the Los Angeles area?

That’s true... the venue looks great based on the photos my sister and I have managed to find. We both follow the same profiles to pool our research, though this time I'm the one doing all the legwork.
It’s far from being poorly decorated, but I find myself searching for something near the coast—it would be a shame not to take advantage of that setting—though I suspect any hall, no matter how plain it might seem, could be polished up to look like this if you put in the effort.

coastalwalker10 said:It's actually a hall owned by the Arcade restaurant. They have a presence on Facebook and seem to be running some pretty heavy promotions lately... they're doing a giveaway, so I'll just paste what they posted on their page here:
Dear friends,

Due to overwhelming interest from engaged couples, our sweepstakes will be extended until February 7th, 2014. The winners will be drawn on February 9th, 2014, at the Say Yes salon. We look forward to seeing you and wish you the best of luck in the drawing:

• A free wedding for 200 guests (includes: floral arrangements from Mirela Florals, lighting by MediaRent, and the wedding cake from The Bakery)

• Open bar for all guests (regardless of guest count)

• Welcome cocktails upon arrival (your choice, served by a professional mixologist)

• Professional wedding photography (Loha Studio)

• A complimentary Saint Jude cake (M-K)

• Free pastries (The Cookie House)

• Complimentary wedding videography (MegaGraph)

• Free wedding bouquet and boutonnieres (Mirela Florals)

• A gift voucher worth $333 toward wedding rings
(Reic Jewelers)

• Free hair and makeup for the bride and maid of honor (Split Style & Top Line)

• Free balloon decor valued at $667 (Fiesta Balloons)

Anyway, my sister is getting married soon (I went through the whole thing last year)... we did a tented reception under a marquee once, and if I recall correctly, their rental rates for tables and chairs were a bit excessive—it was nearly twice as cheap as what they're offering here. 🙂))))) Though, I have to admit, this Arcade promotion sounds pretty enticing... the main catch is likely how much it costs to book the venue itself. From what I can see, the giveaway applies to anyone who reserves a date, so if you win, everything is free, but if you don't, you might end up paying quite a bit out of pocket, haha (or maybe not... who knows?)🙂🙂🙂🙂:

So, since we were actually there today at Say Yes, let me give you the rundown. The venue is absolutely gorgeous, the staff is incredibly welcoming and friendly, and the lighting is fantastic. They have classic lights, plus an option for those moving head fixtures or whatever they call them, with extra effects. The tables are round, and you can choose seating for 6, 7, 8, 9, or 10 people. The head table for the couple is slightly elevated so you can see the whole room and the dance floor. The only catch for this specific sweepstakes is that if you win the free wedding, it has to take place before the end of this year.
However, we did ask about the standard per-person pricing. It's $35! 😁 That includes a classic menu: prosciutto and cheese, French appetizers, two types of risotto, gnocchi, beef stew, roast meat (from Gregor), and dessert. Drinks are also included—wine, beer, sodas, sparkling water, coffee—basically everything except hard liquor. If you want to customize the menu, like adding extra appetizers or swapping dishes, it’s only about a dollar or two more per person, which is actually quite reasonable. The head chef even offered to email me some sample menus and food suggestions... the deposit is $1167... I think that's everything.
I'm really happy with them. 😁 😁

When I was planning mine, I just gave his parents little tokens to show I cared, and then I picked up a nice bottle of perfume for each of my godparents.
As for the sweets, I actually brought in homemade treats to the venue since they were delivered to me, though we did order the actual wedding cakes from Whole Foods.
If you need help finding a florist, just shoot me a private message.

First I'm hearing about this gifting thing. Was a bridesmaid last year and literally nobody gave me anything.

Anyone else actually get gifts from the groom's side? Heard people give gold or something?

Usually, it's the wedding party who exchanges gifts, but as for the parents, well, that's entirely up to you.
In my case, the groom's family gifted me a white gold necklace and some earrings.

I was a maid of honor a few years back, and honestly, nobody gave me anything. It’s just not really how we do things out here in California, especially around the coastal areas—it’s not common to give gifts to the parents or the wedding party. Maybe you see that kind of stuff in rural parts of the Midwest, but not here. For that reason, I’m definitely not planning on giving any gifts myself. 🤷
My future father-in-law actually brought over some gold when his family came over to our place for lunch, and I had absolutely no clue. I wasn't expecting it at all.

I’ve actually never heard of this whole thing where you give gifts to parents and godparents before the ceremony.

BTW, are you guys heading to the Wedding day at the Radisson
tomorrow?

Hey,

I’ve been lurking here for a while now because I am honestly desperate for some advice. I’ve attended four weddings in my life, but let me tell you—I am completely out of my depth when it comes to planning one.

I can’t find any decent reviews on this forum regarding the Poljud restaurant located within the Accenture complex. I'm trying to figure out if the venue used to be an old officers' quarters or maybe part of the San Diego facility... the photos look incredible. If anyone knows exactly which place I'm talking about or has actually held a wedding there, please let me know. Every bit of info helps... thanks!

Have you tried Sheepie for smaller portions? You won't find anything that close to the ocean.🙂
And Forest has started doing small plates too...

Well, 🤷

If you have the chance, why not just go see the space for yourself? Maybe even swing by during a happy hour, assuming they actually host those. The venue was last renovated back when Josip Broz Tit visited—and get this—they supposedly use the same staff that served him. Don't take this the wrong way, but they might be perfectly fine people who just seem a bit unmotivated—kind of like those tired clerks you see at the DMV.

Okay... fair enough. I was totally sold by the photos, but maybe those shots don't actually do the space justice...

I just hopped back onto the site to check out the photos again—it turns out I mixed up two different rooms. I was looking at the one from photo #10, whereas the other one is actually fine; I don't see any of that old-school mid-century government furniture or anything. Still, I'm not entirely sure what advice to give you—I certainly wouldn't jump into a DIY project there without getting some solid, verified input from people who have dealt with similar requests.
