Good afternoon, everyone.
Ever since that last Windows 10 update rolled out, I’ve been dealing with this bizarre issue that I just can’t seem to shake—it's driving me a bit crazy.
Basically, I was moving about 200 GB of data from an old USB 2.0 external drive over to a brand new 1 TB AData USB 3.0 drive.
The old drive topped out at maybe 25 MB/s, whereas the new one should easily hit around 140 MB/s—and it was doing just fine until I dumped that massive amount of data onto it. Now, it’s almost as if the system "remembered" that sluggish 25 MB/s speed from the old drive; now, no matter what I try to move to it from my internal high-speed drives (like a 20 GB ISO file, for instance), it just crawls along at a maximum of 24 MB/s.
Look, I understand the nuances of file sizes and varying write speeds, I really do, but something is definitely broken here. Did that latest Windows 10 "April" update just completely wreck my transfer speeds or what? 🕺
