Extraction (2020)

Look, personally, I’m fine with it if he’s dead. It’s cleaner that way.

But, if you actually bother to dig around online, you'll find certain corners of the internet claiming he's still alive—arguing he actually showed up to visit the kid during that scene where the little guy jumps into the pool.

He's still kicking 😉 Look, at the end of the day, this is just an Action movie

The final scene implies he actually made it out alive... And if the box office numbers hold up, we can probably expect a sequel.

The specifics of how Chris managed to survive a bullet to the lung, a shot to the neck, and a plunge from a bridge into a river—not to mention those other "scratches" he picked up earlier—are largely irrelevant. If the revenue is strong, anything is possible.

We have seen this trope before... even in old American war films, where my uncle used to recount stories of commanders like Sava Kovačević continuing to bark orders even after an M1 Garand blast had taken their head off.

"His head rolls down the hill and says to me... Take command!"

I found the film quite compelling and would certainly welcome a sequel.

Unless they shot him dead center in the head, I suppose there's a chance he’s still kicking. It feels like they left that door wide open just in case they decide to make a sequel. Given how well it's performing at the box office—especially with everyone drawing comparisons to John Wick—it seems pretty likely we'll see a follow-up.
Though, if I'm being honest, I think it might have been more interesting to see that Indian actress take the lead role...

To wrap this up—if you're a fan of John Wick and The Equalizer, you'll probably dig this too. It's kind of like how some people live for total trash horror flicks. Thank god there aren't any sequels coming... 🙂

The Equalizer is actually a decent enough watch, both parts. But in the second one, they dial back the action so much it barely even feels like an action movie anymore. It's definitely not some mindless sludge like Transformers or Fast and Furious...

Basically, I've seen everything mentioned here and personally, most of them are a 0 or 1/10 for me—honestly, watching a local city council meeting would be more entertaining... As far as actual action goes, Die Hard (the first three), Lethal Weapon, and all the Rush Hour movies—of course, I could name a dozen more, but just off the top of my head... By the way, Lethal Weapon 5 and Rush Hour 4 are officially happening, let's just hope they don't totally screw them up...

Die Hard 3 is just a mess—too much overkill and political correctness, it's nowhere near the quality of the first two. And Lethal Weapon? After the first couple, it just turned into a comedy dump. The fourth one is almost unwatchable, especially that ridiculous scene where Riggs "telepathically" calls out to Roger to save him. I won't even get into Rush Hour... that's a whole different level of nonsense.

I guess I agree—but we can also probably agree that Sicario is more of an Action movie than a Drama...

Honestly, it’s probably easiest if we just agree to disagree—because arguing over whether a piece of art is actually good or not is basically a massive waste of time. I mean, one person might think it's totally epic when the protagonist gets shot a dozen times, bleeds out, falls off a bridge into a river, and then somehow magically "recovers"—while someone else will just see that as pure stupidity. Just my two cents, I guess.

Look, I’ll just say this before I bail on this thread—after falling from a height, getting beaten senseless, getting hit by a car, dealing with a broken arm, and bleeding out while chugging enough booze to thin his blood... basically, after dodging a million bullets only to get caught by a sniper, hitting the floor, miraculously standing back up to fire off a few last shots, and then finally getting taken out by a 7.62x39mm round from an AK-47 through the neck—it’s all pretty brilliantly shown in this scene:

@Deckard I just remembered another piece of trash—personally speaking, at least—that somehow has an insanely high 7.6 rating on IMDb. It's called:

The Raid: Redemption (2011)

I guess this one is worth a look—maybe if you're into that kind of thing. It’s got some decent action, I suppose.

If anyone’s looking for Extraction, you should probably give it a shot—it's just non-stop Action, Adventure, I guess.

In my estimation, The Raid: Redemption stands alone as the finest piece of action cinema we've seen in the last two decades.

I actually really enjoyed this one; Chris Hemsworth looks absolutely fantastic. While some of the action sequences definitely push the boundaries of reality, they were shot so beautifully that it hardly matters. Honestly, there aren't many flaws to speak of...
