Hey everyone, I’m 14 years old and I’ve been dealing with this issue for about a year now. Basically, whenever I go out on my bike, I get absolutely wiped out. About six months ago, I rode from my house over to a friend's apartment, and by the time I got back home, I felt like death—I was nauseous, my blood pressure felt through the roof, and my heart was pounding so hard I thought it was going to jump right out of my chest 😁.. Even just getting out of the bathtub after a shower makes me feel like I just ran a marathon, and occasionally, when I get up from bed, it feels like someone just smacked me in the head (though that doesn't happen all the time). Also, I can't seem to take a full breath; it's like I'm barely breathing, or sometimes I just don't even feel like trying 😁.. A year ago, I used to be really active doing traditional dance, but I don't do anything anymore. I mostly just hang out at home or head outside to play some basketball. I get tired, sure, but nothing like that one time where it felt like my heart was going to explode
..
For the record, I'm not overweight or anything..
P.S. Sometimes I get exhausted just walking around or even making my bed lol (it's like I just ran a 1.4 miles xD)... I honestly feel like an old man. I have moments where I'm super energetic, but most of the time...

So, what’s the doc saying?

And how are your iron levels and blood pressure looking?

In my estimation, you’re likely dealing with anemia—specifically an iron deficiency. I went through something remarkably similar myself; it all started when I was fourteen, though my symptoms included those dizzying blackouts where everything just goes dark for a moment... It’s all quite indicative of low iron levels. Essentially, your heart is struggling to circulate enough oxygen because there simply isn't enough hemoglobin to carry it—so the heart starts racing to compensate, leaving you feeling utterly drained and exhausted after even the most trivial exertion, like walking up a single flight of stairs. My advice? Go get a blood panel done first. If the results come back clear, then you can sit down with your doctor and figure out what the next move should be.

What kind of illness are we even talking about here, or whatever this is supposed to be? And more importantly, is there actually a way to get past it? :/

P.S. ruggedmarlin2, how did you end up feeling after everything went down?

The best way to handle this is to head over to a doctor and walk them through exactly what you're feeling. Why not ask about getting some blood work done, an EKG, or maybe checking thyroid levels? A professional should be able to figure out the right path forward from there.😁. Please, don't try to play doctor or diagnose yourself; you really need a trained professional to step in and handle this properly.

Honestly, I’ve been thinking about it, and it might just be because I’m basically a shut-in lately. I spend half my damn day glued to my computer screen, and then when I finally actually step outside, I'm not doing anything remotely active. I don't know... I'm starting to suspect that's the culprit. :/

You won't really know until you've done the legwork and run your own searches. Until then, you're just left guessing—maybe it’s this, maybe it's that... but honestly, it's entirely up to you how you want to handle it.
