I’m stuck using this 15-inch laptop, and I literally have to shrink my browser window by like one degree just to get the forum to fit on my screen.
It feels like those massive banner ads they push for stuff like the new iPhone are basically designed exclusively for people rocking huge widescreen monitors.
I’ve scrolled through plenty of other forums before and honestly, I never even saw those kinds of ads there.
It’s kind of a joke, really... making things basically unusable for anyone who isn't running a giant display.
Then you look at most major US news sitesβ€”they’ll have these obnoxious sidebars and banners, but the actual articles still scale perfectly fine on any device.

So, they finally took down that pillar, but coppersailor28 is saying it’s just temporary while this ad campaign is running...

I'm trying to figure out why my workspace is totally stripped of all my gearβ€”no Nokia, nothingβ€”but then I get home and everything is right where it should be. I really want my setup at work to feel just as complete as my setup at home πŸ™‚

I guess they probably have some kind of corporate policy in place where "something" filters out all that undesirable content.πŸ€”

Nobody's actually filtering anything...
Most users are running wide screens these days, leaving nothing but empty ad space on the sides, and yet coppersailor28 is sitting there expecting to see some kind of profit from it... πŸ˜• It’s getting even more chaotic now, especially with those constant ads popping up right in the middle of my feed...

They filter, they definitely filter. πŸ™‚
Lilith says: "... there's no Nokia at work or anything else..."

60% of users have wide screens, leaving the rest of the ad on the side. And now Anderson expects some kind of profit. πŸ˜•

The ad is just a standard background image. It doesn't even "count" clicks on forum pages, if it counts anything at allβ€”which I doubt. It’s just the background image for every single one. The contract is likely time-based (two weeks or whatever /according to Anderson/).

It looks much better now. Exactly how it should beβ€”clean coverage across the whole screen.😬

Ronald Sullivan90 said:If you're using Chrome, just grab the Stylebot extension https://chrome.google.com/webstore/d...foejpgmdaleoha and then apply this:

It's just basic CSS
html body { background-color: #fff; background-image: none; }
table { width: 100%; }
div.page { width: 100%; }
div.pagenav { width: 0px; }

And if anyone wants, they can port it over to Stylish.

Just a little gift for my first post lol

Thanks for this, seeing an old-school forum feels like a total rebirthπŸ™ πŸ™πŸ™‚

Personally, I feel like I'm still missing about half the screen today.

Does anyone know what happened, or why everything seems so stretched out?...πŸ™‚

Thanks, truly... all that blue nonsense is finally gone.πŸŽ‰

Now, why don't you tell us what needs to be done to expand the forum back to its former glory so everyone can be happy again?🀣

I don't get why everyone is losing their minds over this blue ad (which, by the way, is absolutely massive 😁); honestly, if this forum had a dark mode, it would be much easier on the eyes. This brightness is actually physically painful and exhausting. πŸ™‚

I’m having a bit of a rough time here; I use a 4:3 aspect ratio monitor and I tend to prefer a larger font size
so much so that nearly a third of the page
has effectively vanished from my view. Now I’m stuck either scrolling horizontally back and forth
or constantly hitting CTRL minus to shrink the text down twice over on Firefox.

Could we please revert to the previous layout?

With the Metropolitan Opera, it’s pretty straightforwardβ€”you just go into the settings, hit the website, and click "fit to width."

Luckily, the monitors at my university are tiny 4:3 screens basically the size of a smartphone, so I can't even see the Motorola ad. 😁

The guy is stubborn. πŸ™‚Could it be because I'm running without an adblocker? πŸ€”

I went ahead and installed Monkey, then added this line to my script:

document.body.style.background = "#ffffff";

And now, successfully, I have a white background.

However, does anyone happen to know how I might narrow the page width? What would I need to add?
I'm struggling because I don't quite know how to reference specific CSS elements
since this is a .js script...

Basically, how can I inject the following logic into what I wrote above:

Code:
table {
width: 100% ;
}

div.page {
width: 100% ;
}

div.pagenav {
width: 0px;
}
