Alright, thanks guys. I won't keep bugging you with questions since it’s on me now to just head down there in person and see the setup for myself. I'm heading into Chicago next week, and the timing with the renovations actually works out fine—they pushed the training sessions back just enough for me to jump straight in at the start of the season.

Not sure why I rushed into kickboxing. Guess it's because besides boxing and Taekwondo, I haven't really touched any other martial arts. Honestly, I'm looking for a lot of jumping around rather than complex hand maneuvers. With my legs, I just want to work the footwork and really start kicking hard. 😁
Anyway, I'll decide which one to pick once I see it. Is it true the membership is only $33 a month? That seems pretty cheap 😕. What does that $33 cover exactly? Training and gym access, right?
Just posted the question 😁

Back when I was there (last semester), the membership fee $27 was different.
I don't really buy the idea that they've hiked the prices, since it seems like they've been this way for a while now.
But maybe I could ask a friend... he’s heading over there now.

Hey, quick question—does anyone know where I can find some Kendo action in the city? Like, where’s the local dojo at? And more importantly, when are the training sessions happening? I’d love to swing by sometime just to watch the practice and soak up the vibes for a bit!😁

Located right by the 13th Division Promenade over at the Pyramid, near the Line 2 bus station and that old Red Cross warehouse building—we’re running things out of the Rijeka Aikido Hall.

Catch us on Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM,
plus Saturdays from 10:00 AM to noon (for the older crowd) and Sundays from 10:00 AM to noon.
We hit strength, speed, and explosive training every single day from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Maybe he decided to take a little break from this forum and the nonsense being posted here? 🙂 It’s looking likely

Hey! I'm 21 and I’ve been chewing on the idea of getting into MMA training. What can you guys tell me about this gym, UFK TREŠNJEVKA?

The place is kind of a dump—humidity issues, bad heating, sketchy lighting—but honestly? The vibe is great. Training is brutal, it gets crowded, but they offer extra sessions and work with all age groups. Best bet is to just go check it out yourself.

That spot actually works best for me since it’s right in my neighborhood. So, the sketchy facility isn't really a dealbreaker. I'm just wondering if there are any plans to move to a new location, or is this it for good? Just asking because of the commute—gas prices are getting ridiculous!😁

QUESTION; I have a friend who just started college and moved to the Vrbane area. He’s looking for a place to train, but he doesn't have a car. What’s within a reasonable distance? There's City-ryu over by Lake Jarun. If I remember correctly, they offer some kind of kickboxing there too?

At the local community center, they offer MMA and judo

There’s boxing right across from that new church

They have city-ryu too

And it’s not far from the industrial district either

Hello everyone. I am a new member here on this forum.
I was wondering if there is anyone else from the San Diego area interested in training Wing Tsun?
I am planning to begin my journey with WT soon, and I would be truly grateful if someone could reach out so we might discuss the discipline together. Thank you!

Hey everyone, jadeseal81 here! Hope you’re all having an absolutely killer week so far. I was sitting here sipping on some overpriced iced coffee—shoutout to my local Starbucks for finally getting my order right after three tries—and I started thinking about some of the stuff we were discussing earlier. It really got my gears turning, you know? I feel like there’s this huge gap sometimes between what people think is happening and what’s actually going down on the ground. It reminds me of that time back in high school when everyone thought the big football game was going to be a blowout, but then the underdogs pulled off this insane comeback in the fourth quarter. Life is funny like that sometimes. You think you have the blueprint, and then boom, reality hits you with a curveball. Anyway, I wanted to jump in and share a few thoughts on the current situation. I’ve been doing a bit of digging, looking at the trends and just listening to the chatter, and honestly? It feels like we’re standing on the edge of something pretty significant. It’s not just about the surface-level noise; it’s about those deeper shifts that most people miss because they’re too busy scrolling through their feeds. I'm curious to hear what you guys think, though. Are we looking at a major pivot point, or am I just overanalyzing things while I wait for my latte to kick in? Don't be shy—hit me with your best theories. I love a good deep dive, especially when the conversation gets this interesting. Let's get into it! kaže:
You know what, you’re totally right about that... honestly, I don't even want to get into a whole debate over it. It’s just one of those things, isn't it? No matter how much heart you put into a club or how hard you grind to prove yourself, there's always going to be that one person who gets the nod just because they’re tight with the coach. It’s frustrating, for sure, but I've learned to just take it on the chin rather than wasting my energy fighting a rigged game. 😠

Honestly, those clubs you’re talking about? They’re pretty much bottom-tier. They just don't have any connection to the actual fighting spirit that makes martial arts what it is. It’s all flash and no substance, if you ask me.
Hey, I’m just saying—this whole sports thing is getting out of hand. Honestly, the coaches? They’re absolutely clueless. It feels like they haven't got a single clue what they're doing on the field.

Hey there, I'm new here, so I was wondering if anyone might be able to point me toward a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu club in Richmond... if not, perhaps something similar would work, since I'm not entirely sure which specific styles are available in the area... thanks in advance 🤷

Hey,
So, here’s the deal. I want to get into some kind of martial arts, just for fun, you know? Nothing crazy. But it can't be insanely expensive—honestly, my bank account is looking pretty pathetic right now. Mostly just looking to drop a few pounds (like 25 lbs, haha), maybe tackle some cellulite if that's even possible, get somewhat fit, and maybe pick up some self-defense skills along the way. Not that it's a huge priority, but hey, if it happens, cool. If not, whatever.
I'm skipping the gym because it's mind-numbingly boring, and trying to work out at home is a lost cause since I'm lazy as hell. I tried it once, lasted about two days, then gave up.😳
Full contact isn't really my vibe either. I've got a ton of piercings, especially on my face, and the thought of getting punched in the teeth or having someone rip my rings out sounds like a nightmare.😢
I'm naturally tall and skinny, so things like wrestling or judo are definitely off the table. I don't want to get tackled or pinned down. I'm looking for something more agile—something that builds lean muscle without making me look bulky.
Oh, yeah, I’ve never actually trained for anything in my life, aside from those random couple of months I spent riding a bike. Basically, I'm a total beginner... not sure if that matters.
From what I've read so far, Taekwondo seems okay. I checked out the thread on it, but people were just arguing over nothing, so that was a complete waste of time.
If anyone has a better suggestion, please let me know.🙂
Thanks in advance🙂 and sorry for being such a pain. Typical me...

Oh, and I'm based in Los Angeles.

Piercings are just a liability during any kind of contact, whether you're talking about boxing or MMA.
And if there isn't any actual contact, I suppose it wouldn't even be considered a martial art, right?
In a cage, you'd probably be well-armored enough—assuming you even reach that level—so the piercings would stay safe.
Of course, that’s assuming you’re actually interested in that sort of thing...

Take out the piercings, regardless of what you've been doing before.
What's the point of wearing piercings to training? 😲
You could try kickboxing, for instance; that's my recommendation.
Plenty of girls train it, and there are all sorts of disciplines, so I'm sure you'll find something that suits you.
In my opinion, it’s definitely a better choice than Taekwondo.

Look, you can't fix everything. Especially if they're still fresh.
