Ever since Ε kerlβs leg situation, that greedy guy who teaches like ten different styles seems to have moved up to a much bigger hall. I mean, even Kuzman doesn't teach that many skills... π

nah, nah. Haoβs still got 30 years of training under his belt. You gotta respect thatβeven if he really gets on your nerves...

So how old is he actually? And why did Ε kerl kick him to the curb? Are you saying he doesn't even claim to teach or act like a master? Like, does he do Chen tai chi, Yang tai chi, Wu Tai chi, Chang chuan kung fu, Yichuan, Xinyiquan, Baqwachang... I don't even know how to spell the rest of them. Basically, if you ask him anything, heβll just insist heβs a master and offer to teach youβprovided you pay up, I guess $33 per session...
He was bragging once about how he totally laid out Bagadur in his own gym... π

Yeah. These Tai chi styles are basically all the same anyway. Every kid in China goes through Chang Quan in elementary and middle schoolβitβs like basic gymnastics to them. All the movements from the other styles are baked right into Chang Quan. Yi Chuan is just a variation of Xing Yi that Hao spent the most time teaching. And BA Gua knows its forms.
Regarding getting kicked in the legβif you actually know why, let me know. :P
So many people claim Bagadur absolutely wrecked him that I just mentally delete the conversation the second someone starts talking about it.
You're a long way from being able to quote Dai Fengzhong...

So you just confirmed exactly what I was saying. Every kid in America knows that Chen and Yang styles aren't even remotely similar. This Hao guy is basically charging a fortune for stuff he picked up during gym class back in school. Missing class used to be a death sentence anyway π
I guess I don't know why he got canned by Ε kerl, heard there was some drama involving money...π€
As for Bagadur, looks like you know your stuff regarding Hao, so maybe ask him if it's actually true... π

Not sure why he got canned by Ε kerlβsomething about money, apparently...π€
As for Bagadur, you clearly know your way around Hao's history, so why don't you ask him if that's actually true... π
If that's your take, you don't know squat about Tai chi.
Hao never mentioned anything about beating up Bagadur. The story always went that Bagadur just flashed a bunch of diplomas at him or whatever. As far as I know, they never even traded blows.

π€£ Haha! So he just shows everyone those fancy degrees and photos from his trips to China... then goes around trying to impress an American with pictures of China. How original...π πβ

yeah... what can I even say... after the way Hao described that whole scene in broken American with a thick Russian accentβI was actually tearing up over here...

Teach me some of that deep Tai chi wisdom you've got. And once Hao gets you through all those styles, you think you'll actually be a master like him?
Anyway, Hao tried his hand at being a big-shot BV trader in Washington, D.C. a few times. He even messed around with that guy from Yoga and Kemp, but I guess that fell through too.

I don't do full-blown Tai chiβjust pick up the specific bits that actually work for me. If you bother to look into the stuff, you'll see all those five main styles and the million sub-styles are basically cut from the same cloth. Same core principles, same philosophy... just different "packaging" depending on who's teaching it. It's always the same 8 forces plus 5 directions, the sung, the opening and closing movements... everyone uses tui shou as a training tool too. It all stems from the same root. Correct me if I'm wrong...
Itβs a fair questionβwhether any version of Tai chi being taught these days actually has anything to do with beating a skilled opponent...
Hao's trading career was a total bustβnow he just spends his Saturdays making tofu...

Man, you really know your stuff. But if the Tai chi people practice today probably doesn't have much to do with actual fighting, why would Xinyi and Bagwa be any different? And the way you laid that out makes me think maybe Wing chun actually has more training methods and is more complex...

So, I guess the guy from China bailed on selling those undershirts and socks out in HreliΔ? π€£

And looking at how you listed everything out, it seems like Wing chun actually has more training methods and is way more complex...
I'm no expertβit just looks like you don't know jack about Tai chi. (Translation: I'm talking nonsense)
As for his Bagwa, I don't do it myself, but 95% of Bagwa instructors couldn't apply it in a real fight if their lives depended on it. Itβs likely just a Taoist meditation system anyway. (Yeah, I'm talking nonsense)
His Xing Yi, thoughβthat has clear combat value. Even if you're skeptical (and you totally are), it's still worth learning the basic Xing Yi forms and techniques from him. I'm not talking nonsense there because I actually know something about it.
Regarding Wing chun, it seems like it has very few training methods compared to Tai chi. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's mostly just chi sao and its variations (chi gerk? blindfold drills? stick work?), three empty hand forms, short sword, and pole, right? How many "words" does Wing chun even have?

Like I said, that guy Kevin π teaches Barry, so he might actually be able to use it in a fight. Maybe you've caught a glimpse of his training sessions?
