During my first pregnancy, the very first test I took flashed positive immediately; yet here I am now, having taken two separate tests that both came back negative. However, I know instinctively that I am pregnantβ€”after all, one knows their own body better than anyone elseβ€”so I would suggest not putting too much faith in those little plastic sticks.

Douglas Taylor2 said:I should be getting my period in about ten days, but I honestly don't feel like waiting around. I guess I'm not quite sure how realistic it is to expect to gain a couple of pounds and have that little bloat by March 30th, which was when my last one showed up. Also, what’s the deal with the ovulation spotting? When I did a test about a year ago, I used a urine cup, and most of them seem pretty much the same to me...

I guess you guys forgot about meπŸ˜‰

By the way, my feet aren't hurting, at least not yet πŸ™‚ but I think I might have a little cramp in my abdomen... and I’m feeling a bit weak, too. It would be such a joke if this happened now, because I just landed this job covering for a woman on maternity leave, and to top it all off, my boss is pregnant too 😁

Douglas Taylor2 said:Ugh, now that I'm thinking about it, there's a chance that M 30.03 was actually a dud. I've definitely gained some weight and have this little tummy sticking out that probably wouldn't be there if I hadn't been pregnant just a month ago... at least, that's my guess. :/
Jeffrey Morris4, huge congratulations! 😁 How far along are you now?

Before my first pregnancy, I actually put on quite a bit of weightβ€”everyone was convinced I was pregnant before I even knew it myself. But once the morning sickness and vomiting really kicked in, everything changed. I suffered from hyperemesis gravidarum, which ended up causing me to lose about 15 pounds.

Honestly, you were looking like a total supermodel right when you left the hospital! 😁 My coworker, on the other hand, put on about 33 pounds during her pregnancy!!!!

That’s true, but only if you’ve been through it before! For someone like me who hasn't, I can't just "know." Honestly, I feel pregnant, but I felt that exact same way during almost every other attempt too... except this time my period is actually super late. πŸ˜‰ When you want something that badly, you start imagining things and picking up fake symptoms. πŸ˜‰

I mean, I don't have any obvious symptomsβ€”well, I *think* I don't 🀷, at least nothing typical. My nose was all stuffed up two weeks ago for no reason at all, and I just assumed it was allergies, but maybe that was a symptom? (I read somewhere that it counts as one of the weird ones). My stomach feels tight and it cramps occasionally like I'm about to get my period, but that might not be anything. Then again, the day before yesterday I had a low-grade fever of 99.5, but I felt totally fineβ€”not sick at all. And I have some discharge sometimes, white or slightly yellowish, but it might not be a thingβ€”it's thick and doesn't smell, though that's rare. My mouth has been dry the last few days and I'm thirsty as hell, and I'm peeing constantly, but that’s probably nothing since I usually have to run to the bathroom three times after just one glass of juice anyway. Anyway, sorry for the massive rant. 🀣

Yeah, I guess autosuggestion plays the biggest role in all of this... though it feels a bit strange that I hit 72, since my absolute limit used to be around 68 or 69... I haven't actually eaten enough to reach that weight, literally, so I'm not quite sure where it came from! That's why I really need to figure out how to start eating healthy as soon as possible 😁

amberorca2 said:Honestly, I don't think people are doing the tests wrong; I think they just plain fail to detect it. Like, take that GraviGnost mini one versus the bigger oneβ€”whatever the hell that's calledβ€”one woman on some forum (maybe even here?) tested while she was definitely pregnant and it didn't pick it up even once! Clearblue gave her a faint line, but the Intim Plus showed a solid plus sign πŸ˜‰

which just goes to show again that tests are 1% unreliable sometimes.

Ugh, I have to tell you about something that happened the other dayβ€”this coworker of mine kept trying to convince me I wasn't pregnant. She was like, "There's no way, your breasts aren't even tender," and I'm just sitting there thinking, WTF?? πŸ˜• Like, what does that even have to do with anything? 🀷 If 70% of pregnancies are high-risk or difficult, it doesn't mean I'll have symptoms too. My god, I just stayed quiet after she said it. It didn't even bother me, it was actually kind of hilarious. How can you claim to know something if you aren't even remotely sure?

As for me, my breasts weren't sore or swollen during my first pregnancy, nor are they now. In fact, they tend to hurt more right before my period arrives. Regarding the topic of breast changes, you should tell that "brilliant" colleague of yours that she hasn't the slightest clue.

Your body is simply priming itself for pregnancy, and if you aren't pregnant yet, you certainly will be soon!

Then I’ll have this one hell of an all-knowing organism... someone pretty reliable who can just tell me ahead of time if I'm pregnant or not. If I'm not... πŸ˜‰ No joke though, how much can you actually prepare in advance? I guess I'm just worried about those draining physical tolls that come with everything. Maybe there's a high probability that πŸ™‚

For some people, increased discharge is a common symptom when they are pregnant.

Ugh, I totally get it, honey. Like, she seriously has no idea and it doesn't work like that for everyone. She was just standing here a few minutes ago trying to convince me that I’m just too thin and *that's* why my cycle is late. Like, give me a break, seriously. 😡

I took a test on Sunday afternoon after drinking a ton of water, and it looked positive, but if it was, it was basically the most faint line in existence. πŸ™‚
I don't even trust these tests at all, whether they show a positive or not. 🀷

Isn't it true that if you're pregnant, you can just take a test whenever you wantβ€”like, at any time of the day? I mean, shouldn't the hormone levels be high enough to show up regardless? Especially in my case, since it feels like it's been quite a while now

haha, amberorca2, you're clearly just sitting there at work too 😁 I guess this shift is actually working out pretty well for us since we have time to type on the forum... I just can't help myself, I suppose 😁

Look, normally these tests are about 99% reliable. You can take one whenever you want, though grabbing that first thing in the morning is your best bet if you want an accurate read. Butβ€”and this is a big butβ€”there are always exceptions, and lately, it feels like more and more people are running into issues where the results just aren't cutting it properly.

As for me? I’m not a fan of home testing kits. πŸ˜‰

Douglas Taylor2, that little bump you're seeing definitely isn't a baby just yet, though it's quite possible you're just dealing with some bloating... intestinal issues are incredibly common during those early stages of pregnancy. πŸ˜‰

In my case, I actually gained about four pounds during that first month before I even realized I was pregnant, mostly because I couldn't stop snacking... πŸ˜‚ then the morning sickness finally kicked in, and the weight just seemed to vanish... πŸ™‚

Yeah, I have this nagging feeling that my stomach is just bothering me lately :/ especially when I'm working or sitting down, it feels like I can't even tighten my core without discomfort πŸ™‚ since I also deal with some spinal issues, I guess I might be overcompensating by tensing up my midsection too much whenever I sit, poor thing πŸ™‚ I can actually feel my heartbeat thumping right in my abdomen, it's like my stomach is just jumping around 😁 😁 😁

hahaha, I get that too! It’s like I’m physically forbidden from sucking it inβ€”not that I could anyway, it feels totally rock hard. I never really connected it to any specific symptoms before, but seeing that you're dealing with the exact same thing makes me want to chime in πŸ˜‰
