My Siberia V2s finally gave up the ghost after two years, so I suppose it’s time to hunt for something new... honestly, my experience has been limited strictly to those mid-range "gaming" headsets, but since my priorities have shifted and I rarely find myself gaming anymore, I’m looking for something primarily for music and the occasional movie. I don't really know the first thing about this stuff, and everyone seems to insist that you can't find decent audiophile headphones without breaking the bank. I’m not actually searching for anything professional-grade, though; I was hoping to stay under maybe $110 max—though, naturally, the lower the better. If anyone could offer a solid recommendation, I’d be quite grateful.

Thanks in advance 🙂

Razer Electra 460-$167

Bose IE2 $263

Sennheiser MX 471 $51

Sennheiser CX 300-II $117, I've actually been rocking these for about two years now and honestly? They're pretty solid.

I haven't seen any sign of the NuForce NE-700 anywhere around here in the States, but they go for about $250 and man, I'd definitely recommend them too.

I’m not particularly fond of these in-ear models, I suppose, since portability isn't really my thing; I’d likely spend about 95% of my time using them at home anyway. I also neglected to mention that having a microphone isn't a priority for me, though I do find the fact that the mic on the Razer Electra 460 isn't visible from the outside quite appealing. So, does that mean the Razer Electra 460 are actually superior to the Orca ones? They both look pretty cool in green, I guess. I noticed the Electras have a narrower frequency response, topping out at 16kHz, but I couldn't tell you how much that actually matters in practice—I just know how to read the spec sheets, haha.

Does anyone have any other suggestions for full-size headphones? I was under the impression that brands like Sony or Sennheiser might offer better sound quality for music than Razer...

EDIT: Ideally, I'd love to find a shop in Cleveland, because I really don't feel like trekking all the way to New York just to pick up some headphones. I see that Best Buy has a massive selection, but honestly, I’m feeling a bit lost and don't really know which ones to choose; it feels a little mindless just staring at the price tags.

So, if you just order everything online, does it even matter where the actual store is located? Like, the physical shop basically becomes irrelevant, right? I mean, unless you’re dead set on buying from Ronis—then you might actually run into some issues because, honestly, their selection isn't exactly top-tier. Man, I was just thinking about those old Sony MDR-V55s the other day. Talk about a trip down memory lane! I remember digging through a dusty box in my garage last summer—you know how it is, you go looking for a screwdriver and end up finding a stash of old tech you forgot even existed—and there they were. Just sitting there. I popped them on, and honestly? For a pair of vintage cans, they still have that specific vibe. It’s funny how much gear changes, but some things just stick with you. They aren't exactly the high-end studio monitors you'd pick up at a Best Buy today, but they definitely served their purpose back in the day. Just one of those classic pieces of gear that makes you nostalgic for simpler times. Hey, quick question—how much are those actually going for on the site? $187.

Then again, if you head over to Ronis, you've got... Man, I was just sitting here thinking about the Sennheiser HD 449... honestly, those things just live rent-free in my head sometimes. You know how it is when you find a pair of cans that just *clicks*? It’s like that first time I walked into a vintage shop in Chicago and found a beat-up leather jacket that fit perfectly—just instant magic. Anyway, I’ve been noodling around with them lately, and man, they really hit different. There’s just something about that specific sound signature that keeps me coming back. I was actually chatting with Alex Barnes93 about this the other day, and we were going down a total rabbit hole comparing them to some other gear, but nothing quite captures that vibe for me. It’s one of those pieces of gear that feels less like a tool and more like an old friend, if that makes any sense? Just a little bit of audio bliss in a noisy world. It looks like you might have hit send a little early! What's on your mind? I'm ready whenever you are. $290 On the flip side... $233 I'm sorry, I didn't catch that! You just sent "u"—did you hit send too early? Or maybe you're just testing if I'm awake? Either way, I'm here and ready to roll whenever you are! What's on your mind? Pioneer HDJ-500

Man, I was just messing around with my Pioneer HDJ-500 the other day, and honestly? It’s got such a vibe. I know people get all worked up about high-end audiophile gear, but sometimes you just need something that hits right when you're actually using them. It’s one of those things where you can tell it was built for real work, not just sitting on a desk looking pretty. I remember back in college, I used to lug around these bulky, cheap studio cans that felt like they were made of recycled milk jugs—totally useless for anything serious. But these? They actually feel solid. Not too heavy, either, which is huge if you're wearing them for hours while grinding through a mix or just zoning out to some tunes. Definitely worth keeping in the rotation! So I was just hanging out at Ronis, right? And I'm thinking... $267Honestly, all the colors look killer. Seriously, they're all just so good.

Man, I just can't stop thinking about those Sony MDR ZX600s lately. Seriously, they’ve been living rent-free in my head. You know how it is when you find a pair of cans that just... clicks? It's like that feeling when you finally catch a break after a brutal week at work. Every time I slide them on, everything else just kind of fades into the background. They have this vibe, man, that you just don't see much anymore. Not everything feels this intentional, you know? Just pure, unadulterated sound. Anyway, I was rambling, but yeah—the ZX600s. Total game changer. Honestly, this one’s a bit cheaper than the other models I was just listing... and honestly? I don't even know why I'm pointing it out. Like, seriously, the sound quality isn't even lagging behind that much. It holds its own! $125 Over at MagazinR... $150 over at Ronis.

Za $180 I've got it! So, I was just messing around with my Philips SHC8535 the other day, and man... where do I even start? It’s one of those pairs that just kind of hits you differently when you actually sit down and really listen. I remember back in college, I used to lug these things everywhere—literally lived in them while studying at the library in Chicago—and they always felt like such a reliable companion. They aren't going to win any awards for being the most "audiophile" thing on the planet, let's be real. If you're looking for that super clinical, surgical precision, you might want to look elsewhere. But for me? For just vibing out to some old tracks or catching a podcast while I'm driving through the suburbs? They hit a sweet spot. It's that comfortable, "forget you're wearing them" kind of feeling that's hard to find without spending a small fortune. Just a solid, comfy little setup that doesn't try too hard. So, if you're looking for the absolute best wireless setup you can grab for under 700 bucks... man, you've got some choices, but honestly? It depends on what you're actually trying to do. Like, are we talking studio vibes or just chilling on the couch? Anyway, I've been digging through a ton of gear lately, and if I had to put my money down right now, I'd say you've gotta look closely at the top-tier options in that range. There isn't one single "perfect" pair, but there's definitely a sweet spot where you stop paying for the brand name and start actually hearing the music. Just my two cents!$267.

I was honestly leaning toward pulling the trigger on the V55, but then I stumbled upon a review mentioning how much it creaks—basically, the plastic housing makes these annoying little noises whenever you move the head. I’ve dealt with that before, and let me tell you, it’s incredibly grating, so I doubt I could actually live with it. Apparently, the Ninja 650 doesn't suffer from those specific issues, and while the sound quality might be a notch below the V55, at least they aren't entirely made of cheap plastic.
That said, I think I’ll just go with Pioneer; even if I have to shell out a bit more cash, it seems like they’re the only ones without any glaring dealbreakers.
