HELP! My laptop won't boot up

I could really use some help here...
My laptop won't boot up properly. When I power it on, the lock screen appears just fine, but as soon as I click on my user profile to launch macOS, the screen just goes black. I noticed the first blue light and the fourth orange light are both blinking...

Those blinking indicator lights are supposed to act as low-level diagnostics to tell you what's broken. But look, I can't guess what's going on without knowing what we're working with. Give me the exact model number. Also, pay attention to those lights—count how many times they flash and let me know if the blinks are long or short.

Also, tell me how long you've had this thing. Has it ever actually worked right, or have you done something recently that might have caused it to die on you?
