I’m thinking about staying on the birth control pills even after the summer... not just for that one month.

So why don't you just start them properly from day one of your cycle? Honestly, you could have already planned ahead and scheduled things so they wouldn't interfere when you're actually spending time with your partner, rather than just letting your body throw you a curveball for no reason.

Laura Mendoza said:Look at you saying "finally someone smart." Honestly, thinking that way does more harm than good. As long as you're getting laid, I guess it doesn't matter. 🙄

Don't be so modest!
☕

My gynecologist suggested it—so I was like, look, I haven't had any side effects, so why bother with all these tests? I guess there's really no point.😉

Look, I’ve been staring at this screen for way too long, and honestly? My head is spinning. It’s like when you’re driving down a backroad in rural Nebraska—you think you know exactly where the turnoff is, then suddenly, boom, you’re staring at a cornfield and realize you missed the exit three miles back. That’s how I feel right now. Just completely lost in the weeds. And don't even get me started on the sheer amount of nonsense flying around lately. It’s exhausting! You try to have a normal conversation, a decent little exchange about something that actually matters, and instead, you get hit with a wall of absolute gibberish. It’s like trying to read a manual written in crayon while someone is playing a drum kit right next to your ear. Total chaos. Anyway, I’m just venting. I need a coffee—a real one, not that watered-down sludge they serve at the local gas station—and maybe some peace and quiet. But let’s be real, we all know that’s not happening, right? We’re stuck in this loop. Typical. kaže:
So my gynecologist comes up to me and starts pushing this specific set of tests—totally out of the blue! And honestly? I was just like, "Look, I’m feeling fine. No side effects, no issues, no nothing. Why on earth would I want to go through all that hassle for no reason?" I mean, if everything is running smoothly, why mess with the system? It feels like one of those unnecessary errands you only take if someone forces your hand.😉

Look, seriously—get a new gynecologist. I don't care if you feel like a million bucks and haven't had a single side effect—you absolutely have to get regular checkups while you're on the pill. It’s just common sense! It’s like driving a car and saying, "Hey, the engine sounds fine, I don't need an oil change," even though you know deep down that maintenance matters. You can't just ignore the underlying stuff just because you aren't feeling nauseous or moody right now. Get those tests done. Period.

Hey ladies, does anyone happen to know how long a doctor's prescription for birth control pills actually stays valid? I ended up taking a little break because of some other stuff going on—nothing major, just life getting in the way—and now I’m looking to get back on track, but my doctor is actually away on vacation right now. They told me to swing by on a specific day, but then it hit me 😠 that I still have this old prescription from January 30th sitting here. So now I'm wondering, is this thing even good for anything anymore? 🙈 I’m pretty sure the answer is probably no, but I figured I’d ask you all before I just toss $33 these tablets that I could have picked up for free... 🙄

I’m pretty sure the prescription lasts for a full year—at least it did for me—but honestly, I wasn't getting my pills for free, so there was that 😕>

It’s worth noting that these things can be valid for an entire year. Personally, I’ve been on birth control for years and it was always handled this way, unless they made some sort of adjustment to the protocol in the last few months. But in my experience, I’ve always paid for my pills because that prescription essentially serves as the doctor's formal recommendation required to obtain them. Perhaps you were issued a different type of prescription that has since expired. It might be best to just check with your local pharmacist.

Actually, it’s valid for a full year, but I’m not sure which specific recipe earns you that freebie. Maybe the Diane 35? If that’s the case, then their "one-year validity" claim doesn't really hold water.

Yeah, I’m currently on Diane 35. So, how long does their prescription actually cover then?

My friend was cheated out of three months; her prescription was supposed to be renewed every quarter, but that’s not always the case. Honestly, just check with your local pharmacist—rules aren't always set in stone. I personally know a few women whose prescriptions last for six months, and for other types of medication, they typically issue them for an entire year. So... just ask. You've got nothing to lose.🙂

No biggie. Today’s actually my first day on this new medication regimen, which means I really ought to get started on them today, but I honestly have no clue which pharmacy in town stays open all day long. Plus, my leg has been acting up since yesterday, so I’m not exactly in the mood to be trekking all over town hunting for pills.😢

I managed to push back my period using Celest tablets. I started taking them about five days before it was due. I popped them for maybe ten days or so—and then, just two days after stopping, my period arrived.
I’m fully aware this isn't exactly the smartest move—nor is it the best thing for the body—but it was an emergency situation. Just an extreme measure...

Is it possible to purchase contraceptive pills without a prescription here?

Not by the book, certainly. It worked for me once only because I’d lost my actual prescription, and the pharmacist at my local CVS already knew me by sight... but that was six or seven years ago now.

I truly hope you aren't planning on playing doctor with birth control pills on your own whim...

Not a single pharmacist has even bothered to ask me for a prescription—and I’ve been popping them for a good six or seven years now. Usually, that’s how it goes at the private clinics.

Everyone’s always hitting me up for the recipe, and now they’re even tracking how many boxes I buy every single time...

I went to see my gynecologist three days after my period ended, and he decided to switch up my birth control, putting me on Diane 35. Since I had already been taking my previous pills for three days and started the Diane 35 the very next day per his advice, I just kept going with it. That meant I entered my cycle using a mix—three days of the old ones followed by twenty-one days of Diane. I’ve finished the Diane pack now, but it’s been five days and my period still hasn't shown up... is it possible it's just delayed this month? We did have sex, but my boyfriend didn't finish inside me. Please let me know, because I'm starting to get really worried.

I went through the exact same thing back when I was on the pill.

Can anyone tell me how long I should expect to wait for my period to start after stopping the pill a month ago? I was supposed to get it today, and while my ovaries are aching, there's absolutely no spotting or anything—just my hormones going haywire, so I'm feeling pretty cranky.

You should probably give your doctor a call or just head into their office tomorrow.🤷
