Sorry if this is a stupid question to ask here...

How much protection do birth control pills actually provide during that 7-day break?

Hello!
I was wondering if it’s safe to take oral contraceptives for two consecutive months without a break. I have a trip to the coast coming up and would love to skip my period. Does anyone know about potential side effects or if this is actually okay to do?
I've been using them regularly for four years, following the standard routine of taking a pack and then having a seven-day break for my period.
I stay on top of all my medical checkups and haven't experienced any issues. It just occurred to me that I could skip the break for my vacation, but my gynecologist is currently away on summer break.
Thanks in advance for the help!

It shouldn't pose an issue, though you ought to prepare yourself for the possibility of spotting, which might last for varying durations depending entirely on how your own body reacts. Otherwise, there is really no reason why you couldn't.

Hey there,
I’ve got a question... so... has anyone ever had their period just skip (during those 7 days off), but then everything goes back to normal after starting the next pack of pills? Like, what if the bleeding doesn't happen for one month? Does missing a period always mean you're pregnant? And also, what actually happens if a woman keeps taking the pills while she's actually pregnant? thx🙂

I don't get why they're tracking your box count, though? I guess maybe they're just being nosy or something.🙄

🤷
It lists the date followed by 1X or 2X, depending on how many boxes you're grabbing 🤷

And I'm guessing within these next 6 months, my recipe won't be worth it if I don't just go ahead and grab 12 boxes or buy them for others...

Honestly, what a joke—never even heard that before. 🙄
Who cares how many boxes I end up buying anyway? 🙄

That happened to me a few months ago. Honestly, I was losing my mind because I couldn't tell if I'd actually had it or not. Was it possible I just forgot something? Then I'd look at my supplies and realize I hadn't actually bled, so I started stressing about midterms and finals... the stress was unreal. I was so confused that I ended up confusing my doctor too; she sent me straight to the ER for blood work just to rule out pregnancy 😲 but yeah, the results were negative 😁 so I'm relieved, though they couldn't find any specific reason why it skipped 🤷

That’s weird... I mean, I tried searching online to see what the cause could be... but there’s absolutely NOTHING out there about it... anyway... thx... 😉

My gynecologist actually told me once that this can happen. Apparently, you can skip a period because of low hormone levels in the pill.

Exactly. What use is a prescription if there is no oversight on how many boxes you actually pick up? You could stock up for the entire neighborhood and nobody would even notice.

Anyway, for those of you who have stopped taking your pills... After how long can I expect my first actual period, rather than just the withdrawal bleeding at the end of a pack? 😳

I honestly don't get how that even happens. 😕

Nathan Gomez8: honestly—just another day in this mess, I guess. maybe if we all just stopped caring things would actually work—but who am I kidding? anyway—whatever. kaže:
I mean, what’s even the point of a prescription if nobody’s actually checking how many boxes you walk out with? You could probably stock up for the whole damn neighborhood and nobody would even notice—I guess.

Wait, what exactly is supposed to be getting documented? I guess—maybe—everyone's just making a big deal out of nothing... honestly.
Who cares how many boxes I buy? — seriously, mind your own business.🙄
First time I've ever heard of such nonsense... honestly—what a joke.

She’s just worried because you could easily go out and buy a ton of these pills and then pass them off or sell them to other women. Like, someone might have a health issue and shouldn't be taking anything without seeing a doctor first. Or they just shouldn't be on them at all.
To me, it makes total sense

For me, the first real one came after 2 weeks😲 then the next was 6 weeks later, and after that, things just got totally irregular. 🙂

I mean, I don't really get it—I've been on meds for like a year now and this is the first I'm hearing about it... plus, none of my girlfriends have ever mentioned anything either.🙄
If they won't let me grab two boxes at one CVS—fine—I'll just hit up a Walgreens and pick up ten in one go. I guess that’s how this works.
Nobody's actually keeping track of this stuff... I guess.
Pre-sale didn't even cross my mind—guess I was too busy being clueless, maybe.😁

I've been on the pill for seven years now, and every single time I walk into a pharmacy, they ask for a prescription. They always make sure to write the date and the quantity on the back of the box, too. Every single time...

I second that.
It’s a valid point, especially when you look back at how much unnecessary panic was stirred up during that whole Yasmin controversy...
