I was wondering where I could go to get an X-ray to estimate my final height, and if I actually need a doctor's referral for that kind of thing.
For context, I'm 17 years old and currently 5'4".
My dad is about 6'0" and my mom is 5'5".
I take after my father, and he was a late bloomer—he didn't really hit his stride until his junior or senior year of high school.
Since I'm finishing up my junior year and most of my physical development seems pretty standard (my beard is just starting to come in, though it isn't full yet), I'm curious if there's still a chance for me to gain a few more inches.
I actually have an X-ray of my wrist, and you can see a tiny gap—maybe 1 or 2 mm—in the area where the bone grows (I think it's called the epiphyseal plate). This suggests my growth plates haven't fully closed, but I have no idea what size that gap needs to be to guarantee I'll still grow.
It’s not like this is the most important thing in the world to me; I’m mostly just asking out of curiosity.
Thanks so much!
