Hi everyone, I have an HP LaserJet Pro and the original toner that came with it is running low. I decided to pick up a compatible replacement instead (

The issue starts as soon as I install the new cartridge. My screen keeps flashing this message: Cart. Communication Error. A counterfeit or non-Canon cartridge may be in use. Use of counterfeit or non-Canon cartridges is not covered by the warranty. The amount remaining in the cartridge cannot be displayed correctly. I don't mind the error message itself, but when I actually try to print, nothing happens—just blank pages come out (even though I removed all the protective strips from the toner). Normally, I'd just take it back to the store and tell them it isn't working, but their return policy is only 15 days. Since I waited a bit too long to swap the cartridges, I'm outside that window. I've never had issues with third-party toners on my old printers, so I'm stuck.

Does anyone know how to fix this? Or if anyone else owns this specific printer, could you recommend a reliable replacement brand?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Some Indian guy cooked up this little scheme here. If you can actually figure out what he’s pulling off, let me know.

I managed to figure out what issue he was actually tackling, but unfortunately, it doesn't apply to my situation, so this fix didn't work for me. Thanks anyway!

If the cartridge is defective or a fake, you should always be able to get your money back...
