HP printer acting up

I’ve got this HP printer, and I’m losing my mind because I can’t get one specific photo to print at the exact size I scanned it in. It’s just a standard sheet of letter-sized paper, and when I scan it, the dimensions come out as 1554x2275. But the second I hit print, the software starts nagging me about paper sizes, and even when I set it to letter, it shows a margin warning saying the bottom edge is going to get cut off. And sure enough, once it prints, the bottom is gone. This is a huge deal for me because I need the whole thing visible from top to bottom. No matter what settings I mess with, I can't get the full image to fit within the frame perfectly. Is there some kind of trick to this?
I already tried running it through Adobe, but it’s the exact same damn problem.

How much of that unprintable area are we talking about from the edge of the page? Most printers just can't hit the margins because of how they're built...

Maybe I'm missing like half an inch at the bottom or something, but I scanned another photo using the exact same A4 settings and it came out at 2467x3488, which printed perfectly fine—actually gave me a little extra breathing room at the bottom. When I hold them side-by-side right now, the physical sizes are identical, so I have zero clue what the deal is here.

Just download Adobe Acrobat Reader. Hit Ctrl+P and adjust the print size to set whatever dimensions you want for an individual image

Got it, thanks for the help. Turns out there’s this "fit" setting in the software that I just needed to uncheck. Quick question though, is there any way to make the black text pop more because everything looks a little washed out on my end, or am I just looking at a dying ink cartridge here?

If you've gone with the black ink cartridge, and that happens to be what's currently sitting in your printer, then you're pretty much all set.

Does it actually matter which file format I use when saving an image, like if the print quality is going to change if I go with a JPG versus something like a Word doc?
Does it depend on whether I want the finish to be glossy or matte? This specific image is glossy and saved as a JPG, but I'm trying to get it printed with a matte finish.
