So I just picked up this 24-inch Samsung monitor with a 1920x1080 resolution, right? But here’s the kicker—whenever I crank the settings to the max, the image is totally cut off. Like, I can't even see the start menu, and if I try to exit a browser window, half the screen is gone. It's driving me insane. When I drop the resolution down, everything looks fine and fits perfectly, but why the hell does that happen? I mean, shouldn't the monitor actually be able to handle its own native resolution? I've got an HDMI cable plugged straight into my graphics card, too. What gives?

auto tune 🙂

If you've got fingerprints all over the screen, just calibrate it until it looks right to you..
But honestly, every new monitor comes with its own auto-tune feature that handles the alignment anyway (at least for left-to-right or up-and-down stuff)..

Look, if you've got artifacts on your screen, just run the calibration settings until it looks right to you..
But honestly, every modern monitor comes with an autotune feature that handles the heavy lifting anyway (at least for horizontal and vertical alignment)..

but every time I try that, my resolution tanks... 🙄 man, is there seriously no way to fix this without messing with the resolution??

Can I actually do this or not? Seriously, someone please tell me—is there a way to shrink an image file size without messing with the resolution? I’m losing my mind here.

Which Samsung model are we talking about? Dealing with those surveys is always such a headache...

To get this working, grab your monitor remote and hit the SOURCE button, followed immediately by the TOOLS key. From there, you need to navigate to the "edit name" option and confirm your selection by pressing the OK/Accept button on the remote.
Once the source selection window pops up, locate the HDMI section and select the PC input—just make sure to hit OK/ACCEPT once you reach the HDMI menu so the full list of available sources displays. After that, use the Coachella button to back out and select the specific HDMI output.

Alternatively,

you can simply switch it over to a VGA or DVI cable.

Once that source selection window pops up, look under HDMI and pick the PC source (just a heads up, once you hit the HDMI option, you have to press OK/ACCEPT on the remote first so the menu with all the different sources actually shows up). After that, use the Coachella button to get out of there and select the HDMI output under SOURCE.

or

just switch him over to a VGA or DVI cable.

I tried that first thing you said and it worked! Everything looks perfect now that I cranked the resolution up to max!! thx 👍👍
