Immunologist recommendations?

Can anyone recommend a solid immunologist in Cleveland or Chicago?
I don't really care if it's private practice or through an insurance network, as long as I'm not stuck waiting over two months just to get an appointment like they make you do in Cleveland.

Dr. Fauci and Dr. Smith are over at the Mayo Clinic in Chicago working on a Rib, but man, the wait for that first appointment is brutal👎—they're absolute rockstars, though.

and noticed that both Dr. Smith and Dr. Fauci are listed as internal medicine specialists, whereas Dr. Johnson and Dr. Miller are listed as specialists in both internal medicine and clinical immunology. Given that my referral specifically asks for an immunologist, I really think I should be seeing someone with that specific expertise, right? 😕

She doesn't miss a single thing; she'll scrutinize everything from your big toe up to your eyelashes. And don't expect a quick fix, either. She’s going to order a mountain of biochemical tests and screenings, which takes forever because, let's be real, lab turnaround times at places like Quest Diagnostics can be a total nightmare. But here's the kicker: she actually cares. If she can't squeeze you in on a day you already booked, she won't just leave you hanging. She’ll personally reach out to let you know and make sure you get rescheduled immediately. I've been there myself, and in today's healthcare system, finding a doctor with that kind of integrity is like finding a needle in a haystack. I can't recommend her enough.

The data on their website is just plain wrong. I actually called Rib, but the wait times there are even longer than they are in Cleveland. They’re looking at ordering in November for sometime the following year. Back when I was in Cleveland, I had my order set for mid-December. Does anyone know if there’s a private immunologist out in Cleveland? (Since Sun and Medical Center don't have one)

I honestly can't recommend these two doctors enough. I actually saw Dubravka Smith myself. She is such a massive expert in her field, even if she doesn't carry around a fancy professor title.
If you're looking for an immunologist, whoever referred you should try reaching out to those specific doctors directly. Just call the main office and ask for their private practice. If things feel urgent, don't be afraid to ask if they can squeeze you in sooner. Honestly, once you're needing an immunologist, it means your immune system is already struggling, and you really don't want to be out there catching every bug going around.

My primary care physician finally gave me some direction. To be honest, I’ve been dealing with what looks like classic hyperthyroidism symptoms for about 20 years now. I won't bore everyone by retyping my entire history here, but things have taken a bit of a turn lately. Over the last year, I've started noticing skin spots appearing, and I seem to be stuck in this endless cycle of inflammation. Just this past month, a recent endoscopy and colonoscopy revealed some inflammation in my gastric antrum—something I've actually dealt with for a while, though it was only officially caught recently. On top of that, there's been quite a bit of blood in my urine.
I need to get that looked into as well while I wait for my follow-up appointment with the endocrinologist.

On top of that, I had Hepatitis A a few years back and some liver lesions caused by my thyroid issues. The infectious disease specialists ran a full battery of blood tests on my liver, and it looks like there’s an autoimmune component at play here. They referred me to an immunologist, but the earliest opening the doctor could find at the Mayo Clinic isn't until August 2020—which is literally two years away. Honestly, who has that kind of time? I feel like I'll be dead before I even get through the door.

I was wondering if any of you could recommend a good immunologist in Chicago, or maybe somewhere else in the US, for an initial consultation? I don't need anyone legendary or anything, just someone who won't make me wait forever. I'd actually prefer a major public hospital because I trust their quality more, but I'm totally open to a solid private practice too.

Also, does anyone happen to know if it’s possible to seek treatment over in Germany, and if so, what does that whole process look like?

I don't really care if they're in private practice or part of a major hospital network, I just need someone who actually knows what they're doing. Ideally, somewhere in Washington, D.C. or maybe Seattle would work best for us.
