Hey,

Thanks for the reply. My hepatologist said the ANA isn't really a big deal since the LKM-1 came back negative and the SLA-LP is just a 1 (ref. Guess I’ll just have to sit tight and wait for the biopsy results to see what's actually going on.

Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone could offer some guidance! I had my ferritin checked today and the result came back at 13, while the normal range is listed as 22–122.
Does anyone have suggestions on what supplements might help boost my ferritin levels?
My iron level is also sitting at 13, with a reference range of 8–30.
UIBC is 47.9 (ref. 26–59), and my TIBC is 61 (ref. 49–75).

Hi everyone,

Lately, I’ve been dealing with some occasional cloudy urine at the end of urination, especially when I haven't been drinking enough fluids. This used to happen back when I was younger, so I didn't panic initially, but I've started feeling a slight ache or discomfort around my right kidney area, which prompted me to see a doctor. My urinalysis came back normal, but my creatinine was slightly elevated (the reference range is 64-106, and mine was 110). My urea and PSA levels both look fine.

Do you think there's any reason to be concerned?

Thanks in advance.

I’d love to get some thoughts on my lab results: View on imgur

My throat is absolutely killing me—it's so inflamed I can barely speak or swallow without it being a total nightmare.
Running a fever of 98.6... and unfortunately, this keeps happening to me, though never quite this brutal. I still have my tonsils.
Any advice?

Iron is at 13... ref range is 8-30.
UIBC 47.9... ref range 26-59.
TIBC 61 (Reference range: 49-75).

It’s clear you're running low on iron. Whether that actually qualifies as anemia depends entirely on your hemoglobin and hematocrit levels. While supplements like Heferol, Ferrum Sandoz, or Legofer can address the deficiency, they aren't a cure-all. You have to find out why the iron is disappearing in the first place. If there's bleeding in the digestive tract—even if it's subtle enough to go unnoticed—you need to identify the source. Treating the iron shortage without finding the root cause risks overlooking a much more serious underlying condition.

Do you think there’s cause for concern?

It depends on your age. You’ll need imaging for the urinary tract—starting with a renal and bladder ultrasound—along with follow-up urea and creatinine tests. It would also be wise to run some other standard biochemical panels, calculate your GFR, and potentially perform a 24-hour urine collection to check protein levels and the protein-to-creatinine ratio. For now, the priority is repeating the urea and creatinine along with electrolytes, plus getting that ultrasound done.

The results might point toward a strep infection, but being unable to speak or swallow changes the stakes entirely. You need to see an ENT specialist immediately. At this stage, we have to rule out the development of a peritonsillar abscess or even a parapharyngeal abscess—essentially a soft tissue abscess in the neck. That can become dangerous very quickly. Get an urgent evaluation by an ENT right away. If everything looks stable, they’ll likely take a swab and then decide whether to wait for the culture results or start you on antibiotics immediately, depending on how you're holding up.

Fever, just under 102°F; she likely had the flu, as she’s still running a low-grade fever today.

Friday's results:

CRP Red Blood Cell 5.11 H
Hemoglobin 115
Hematocrit 0.348
MCV 68.1 L
MCH 22.6 L
MCHC 331
RDW 13.3
Platelet 172
MPV 8.4
White Blood Cell 2.4 L (ref. range 5.0-13.0)

CBC Differential:
Eosinophil % 1.3
Basophil % 0.3
Neutrophil % 47.4
Lymphocyte % 39.9
Monocyte % 11.1

I am somewhat concerned about these significantly low white blood cell counts. The doctor advised us to return for follow-up blood work in a week, assuming the levels should normalize by then.

Is such a dramatic drop in white cells typical during a bout of the flu?

Oh, absolutely. They can actually dip even lower than that. I'm fully on board with whatever the attending physician suggests here.

I had some bloodwork done because of a sinus infection. I finished my antibiotics, but the exhaustion is still hitting me hard, and I've been running a low-grade fever of 98.6°F for three weeks now. My doctor is sending me back for more tests because of this.
Everything looks fine on the results, except for this one value which is just slightly outside the normal range.
Is this something to worry about, or is the fatigue and low fever just lingering from the sinus infection? My nasal swab came back clear too.

(K) Red Blood Cell 5.09 ( 3.86 - 5.08 )

Maria Fisher46 said:It could be an incomplete recovery from a bacterial infection, or maybe even one that's still smoldering. That said, slightly elevated neutrophils can also pop up at the start of a viral illness before the lymphocytes eventually spike. So, honestly, it could be either way.

Given that you’re dealing with a massive laundry list of various symptoms—which is pretty obvious if you look through your many posts across different threads on this subforum—there's a chance these low-grade fevers and these lab results could signal the onset of a non-infectious issue, like something rheumatological. However, having a slight fever for just a few days isn't really enough time to diagnose something like that.

I've been running a temperature up to 99°F for three weeks now. It's totally normal in the mornings and evenings. It definitely isn't tied to my cycle.
I've gone back for blood work twice now, and everything comes back looking fine (CBC, ESR, CRP, liver enzymes, alkaline phosphatase, sodium, potassium...).

What are the odds that I actually have lymphoma or leukemia if my blood work looks normal?

Just one quick question.
Lately, I’ve been feeling this weird pressure behind my eyes.
I went to get my eye pressure checked out, and everything came back totally normal.
So, a few days later, I decided to check my insulin levels myself.
Here’s how it looks,
First reading: Monday around 3:00 PM—about an hour after lunch—was 8.6.
Then I had a massive dinner.
Second reading: Tuesday at 9:00 AM was 5.8.
I hadn't eaten anything yet—just spent the whole morning out walking.
Third reading: Tuesday at 1:00 PM was 4.3.

Are these numbers okay?

I'm 51.

Hey there.
Got a question about my four-year-old:
The kid's running a bit of a fever (under 100.4°F), so we went in for some blood work because of a swollen lymph node near the jaw (about 1.2-1.5 inches) and one noticeable node under the arm, plus two near the tongue area.
Abdomen looks fine, tonsils are enlarged but no exudate, just some catarrhal redness in the throat.
CRP 7.0

Hct 0.334
MCV 75.8

BAZOaps 0.01
NEUTRO% 55.1
LIMFO% 30.3
MONO% 10.8
EO% 3.8
BAZO% 0.1

That neck node was actually pretty swollen about two months ago too, right around when the little one finished a ten-day course of Augmentin. It shrank a bit at first, but then we didn't really think much of it since everything seemed totally fine at the last check-up.
Now we're back to the exact same treatment; we started the meds and have to follow up once the course is done so the doctor can decide if we need more testing or whatever.
Is there any actual reason to be worried here? I mean, why go with antibiotics given these blood results, and are these tiny deviations from the normal range really something to freak out about?

Can someone help me make sense of these blood work results? My eGFR (estimated glomerular filtration rate) came back at 109 mL/min/1.73 m2: unit
The normal range is >60
Using the CKD-EPI formula.

Everything else looks totally normal to me.
Thanks in advance! 🙂

Hello, here is the link to my latest lab results: http://i67.tinypic.com/e1cfev.jpg

Since I transitioned to a vegan diet about six months ago, I've been wondering how my vitamin levels are holding up. My iron has always run low, even back when I was an omnivore—especially during my first pregnancy when I had to take Feosol. It shows at 16 here, though my ferritin (iron stores) is right on the edge at 23. My potassium was 3.8 three months ago, but it has since dropped to 3.4. B12 looks fine, and Vitamin D is sitting at the lower limit. I’ve been taking some multivitamins over the last few months, so I am curious if I should stick with those or switch to specific supplements for iron, B vitamins, and so on...

I also had my TSH (thyroid hormone) checked. It was 1.82 three months ago, and now it is 3.19. Does a spontaneous miscarriage like the one I had two weeks ago have any impact on thyroid levels?

Is there any actual reason to stress out here? Why prescribe antibiotics with these specific lab numbers, and are these tiny deviations from the normal range really cause for alarm?

So, we did the follow-up after finishing the treatment, and honestly, that node hasn't budged an inch. I can even feel another one lower down on the other side now.

To whom it may concern,

My father just had an MRI of his entire spine. He’s dealing with shifting pains all along his back, from his shoulders down to his legs. We would be extremely grateful if someone could help us make sense of these results...

Thanks in advance.

Hi there.

During my last OB-GYN appointment, the doctor found a 3x4 cyst and ordered a CA 125 tumor marker test... then told me to follow up in three months.

My marker came back at 52.5, though the normal range goes up to 35.

I'm wondering if this is considered significantly high—does it point toward something serious, or could it just be elevated because of the cyst itself?

I know I need to talk to my doctor about this, but my next appointment isn't for another 15 days... so I'm just looking for a little peace of mind while I wait.

He did mention starting hormone therapy to monitor things, but I've already turned that down—I tried hormones once before and they honestly made me feel like I was losing my mind.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks for listening.

Hi, looking for some thoughts on these results (just a routine checkup):

RBC 5.21 (4.34-5.72)
Hemoglobin 149 (138-175)
Hematocrit 0.429 (0.415-0.530)
MCV L 82.3 (83-97.2)
MCH 28.6 (27.4 -33.9)
MCHC H 347 (320-345)
RDW-CV 12.3 (9-15)
White Blood Cells 5.3 (3.4-9.7)
-----------------------------------
Neutrophils 59.5% (44-72)
Lym 24.8% (20-46)
Mono H 13.2% (2-12)
Eos 1.7% (0-7)
Baso 0.8% (0-1)
Neutrophils 3.17 (2.06-6.4)
Lym 1.32 (1.19-3.35)
Mono 0.7 (0.12-0.84)
Eos 0.09 (0-0.43)
Baso 0.04 (0-0.06)
Platelets 191 (158-424)
PDW 12.7 (9.8-16.2)
MTV H 10.7 (6.8-10.4)
---------------------------------
AST 25 (11-38)
ALT H 53 (12-48)
GGT 26 (11-55)

Usually my white cell count sits around 7. I had a cold and a slight sore throat right before this, so maybe that caused the dip?
My ALT is always a bit high. I wonder if it could be from drinking too much sparkling mineral water. I tend to go through a lot of it.
Thanks.

Hello there.
I just had some bloodwork done, and while all my baseline markers seem to be within the normal range, my CRP is sitting at 65.
I haven't been running a fever, and my stomach is feeling quite sore—though, to be fair, I am dealing with an open wound on my abdomen following a drained abscess, and I have an ileostomy as well. My bowel movements are behaving perfectly fine, and my liver, kidney, and pancreas functions all look solid, yet I’m left scratching my head as to why this CRP is spiking so high.🙄
